If there were a way to give a MINUS 5 stars review, that's what I would do. I did not choose Dr. Bordelon. He performed an emergency procedure when I was admitted at the emergency room. After the surgery, I never saw or spoke with him, although I was in the hospital for 5 days. He spoke with my Mother for 3 minutes post-op, and was rude to her. At the surgery follow-up, I sat in the waiting room for almost an hour, while others who had arrived after me were called back (I realize this is common procedure for an office where there is more than one physician, but I heard at least two of those people give his name when checking in). During my appointment, the examining room was so cold that I had to wear my winter coat the entire time. No, I did not have a fever, so this should not have been necessary. When he finally came into the room after approximately another half hour long wait, he was dismissive and rude. Concerns I brought up were brushed off and he told me to see the surgeon that performed my gastric bypass almost 4 years prior for further follow-ups to the surgery that Dr. Bordelon had performed. The problem is, that surgeon is in Denver, and I can't afford to drive up there every 2-3 weeks, it means extra time off from work (a whole day as opposed to 1-2 hours), shelling out gas money, arranging for extra childcare (and paying for it)... Just no. When I brought this up, he brushed this off as well. I developed a hernia behind the incision site of this surgery in early December 2013. I called his office on Dec 8 to schedule an appointment to be seen, and was told they could not see me until January 8th. When I asked about a cancellation list, I was told they would not put me on it. I was already in a great deal of pain at this point. Over the next week, the split in the tissue from the incision got bigger (from 1 in ch to two inches long), and became extremely painful. I called to try and schedule an earlier appointment, and was told they had nothing sooner.Since I was in pain, they would transfer me to the nurse and I could speak to her about pain management. I left 4 messages for her before she called me back. When she did, the voicemail she left was rude and dismissive. She stated that they did not prescribe pain meds for hernias (ok fine, can you offer any advice for reducing pain? SOMETHING!? Since your office is making me wait a month to be seen for this?)She then stated that if I was in that much pain, I should go to the Emergency Room. The tone of voice was snotty and rude. I ultimately ended up seeing my primary care physician and asking for a referral to another surgeon. When I did go to the ER, they gave me pain meds to last 3 1/2 days and sent me on my way (this is why I tried calling the office to reschedule instead of just going in the first place, because the ER's in this city, if you're not literally at risk of immediate death, they don't do anything to help you). So even that advice was incorrect. The way I was treated by this surgeon and his staff made me feel like I was inconveniencing them by having had the surgery in the first place, and then again by daring to develop a hernia at the surgical site, and the rudeness and dismissing of my concerns and pain was very frustrating to me. I would NOT recommend this surgeon to anyone.

Their primary concern is what's best for me, and they only give me the advice that would benefit me the most. I never have to worry about them overbooking appointments. They definitely believe in quality over quantity here and it is much appreciated. They went out of their way to make me feel special and respected, and were very sympathetic to my situation. I've never seen more kindness and empathy anywhere else.
