Seth Baker is the last cardiologist in the world that I would choose to continue my heart care. He is not good with details, overlooks very important things that show up on heart tests that his own office has performed, and is not the best manager of medications for a heart patient. He does not listen to patients, is cavalier in his treatment of them, and takes absolutely no time to explain anything to anyone. From the moment he walks into an examining room, he is busy typing up the "report" that is now apparently required by insurance, and he takes no time to diagnose a patient's problem. If something does not show up on a blood test or machine test, he seems not to take it into account. (And sometimes, he fails even to read the report from that test, as was my experience in one critical situation.) I never once had a feeling that I was in the presence of a PHYSICIAN THINKING, pondering my health problems. It was just type-type-type and a brief summary of what the *tests* have suggested regarding a patient. He takes no extra time with a patient in need, and hurries on to his next payday-patient. He is too-quick in answering questions, and too often "I don't know" is his answer. When I sought a second opinion from an out-of-state cardiologist, Baker seemed offended (though that out-of-state physician offered far more help and advice than Baker had). On one critical (for me) occasion, I was scheduled for a series of important cardiovascular tests. But his office called two days ahead to tell me that all the machines were "down" in his office, and I was dispatched to his office in Sebastian. On arrival there, I was told there cardiovascular stress-test equipment was "down," and I was given a substitute test instead ("just as good," an assistant told me----but that was NOT accurate, according to other physicians). And during the substitute test, their Omron blood pressure machine batteries failed! On returning to Baker's Vero Beach office a few days later, I walked in the door and heard a nurse tell someone, "our computers are down." I thought, well, at least I'm in the correct office. Seemed about right, given the care I'd received over the past two years under Seth Baker. I'm not leaving his practice--I'm fleeing from it.
