I am now 70 years old and Dr. Murphy operated on me at John’s Hopkins at age 38 for severe endometriosis. Most doctors would have pushed a complete hysterectomy, but I had opted for a more conservative approach, keeping my uterus and ovaries. I knew what a complete hysterectomy would have meant for me as far as heart and bone health, so wanted to avoid it and go through a natural menopause if I could. At age 52, I completed menopause and have great bones even today at 70.
