They took my child back without me, which is fine and I understand BUT I never got to speak with the dentist! It was my 2 year old's first appointment ever and I had two important questions. I called the office afterwards and they promised the dentist would call back and she never did. I asked the pediatrician my questions and the pediatrician said the dentist is the one who needed to answer them and that legally she should have spoken with me at the time if the visit (and I believe my insurance was billed for "counseling" but obviously I wasn't counseled). Recently the office called to reschedule a follow-up and I mentioned that I was still waiting for a call back (months have gone by) and I again said that I had concerns that I wanted to speak with the dentist about. The office staff said "I see the note right here for her to call you. I don't know why she hasn't yet. Ask to speak with her at the follow-up." Maybe she is the best pediatric dentist ever but I have no idea because I can't discuss my child with her. I'm debating on giving her another try vs. finding someone else. I don't want the same thing to happen when I come in for follow up.

The first time I called Dr. Blankenship's office I spoke to Linda and explained that my child was scared of the dentist office and that we had been asked to leave several dentists in the past. When I went to the appointment, they took over because I had given them the information they needed in advance. I'm am extremely grateful for this and now my child can go to the office on their own and to the orthodontist on their own. So communicate upfront what you need and talk to Linda. She's the best.

I have a mentally and physically handicapped child. He doesn't understand what going to the dentist is all about. He was terrified. Three times I've seen them and each occassion has been the same. They seemed to do an OK job of keeping him calm enough to clean his teeth, but parents are not allowed to go back with thier children. So I have no idea what it was like back there behind closed doors.
They are always running very late, each time I visited them I had to wait an hour, or more, past my scheduled appointment time.
Three times now they have told me they would schedule him back in for a deep cleaning, They said they would call me after they got approval by my insurance. They never call. I called them after a bit of time had elapsed and they wanted to see him in for an initial evaluation and consultation again. So we went back in and the exact same thing happened. "We will call you" and then they never do.
I think they need to over haul their office staff. The dentist is pretty good, but the front desk and office staff could really use some guidance and professionalism. They always seem confused, cluttered, harried and flustered. And the chaos carries over to the patients and their families. Sadly, I must see a Dentist who can handle a severely handicapped child, and Dr. Blankenship is my only option in this area. If I had the choice, I would seek a different dentist.
