I was already sort of leary of this office after my first visit when the hygenist named Sunday kept pushing a deep cleaning (which at every other dentist I've been to was part of a regular cleaning, when they scrape with the metal hook, which ended up costing an extra $140!) and kept talikng about Roger Ebert and how disfigured his face was due to cancer and how they offer a cancer screening (of course extra). When I went back with my daugthters for thier 2nd cleaning with thems, she was pushing for sealing my 8 yr. old daughters teeth (she had this done by our previous dentist) and while she was cleaning my 4 year old daughters teeth she was suspecting the Dr. was going to say thier was 2 cavities and told the dentist the teeth numbers really quick. Now keep in mind at the beginning of the appointment my 4 yr. old daughter was given X-rays. So yes the Dr. (Dr.Mihaela Popa) sure enough said she had 2 cavities and wanted to fill them the same day. Scheduling told her she had another appointment so she couldn't. I noticed during all of this the Dr. asked the hygenist if there was X-rays and the hygentist said "No", I reminded her she took my daughter back to get X-rays. She then said they were still "processing". So a week later I came back with my 4 yr. old to get the cavities filled and I told them I looked at her teeth and saw no signs of a cavity. I asked to see the X-rays they took. THEY COULD NOT PRODUCE THE X-RAYS, I WAS LIVID, I ASKED IF THEY CHARGED MY INSURANCE, THE RECEPTIONIST AT THE FRONT DESK LOOKED IT UP AND SURE ENOUGH, THEY CHARGED MY INSURANCE. They said the first X-rays probably turned out all white?? Whatever, If you cannot put the X-rays in my daughters file, then they should never have charged my insurance. They promptly took my little daughter back to get X-rays. I was shocked, what's going on? The dentist then said my daughters cavities were tiny and I didn't have to have them filled, she says I can't see them she can only feel them when she runs her metal hook over the tooth. I had them filled, they didn't even have to numb her teeth, but I didn't want my daughter to have any issues. It's still bothering me though, why would they do something like that, because they didn't want to admit my daughter had no cavities and the X-rays would prove that. I can't believe they would use a little 4 year old girl, just to make a few extra bucks.

I know realize that dentistry is a business and it's all about the bottom line $$$. You have the right to know what's going on, make sure to ask alot of questions, ask for proof and say no to uneeded extra services.
