I came to Dr. Schubert for a pre-college check-up and to fill in required health information forms. He was reading the questions aloud, and when I answered the sexuality question as "homosexual", his entire demeanor changed - and the smile that had always been on his face dropped so obviously. Whatever his personal beliefs are, it should be his professional duty as a doctor to be at least neutral and informed to provide good, supportive healthcare to ANYONE. Dr. Schuberth then repeatedly told me I should get an HIV test, even though I kept repeatedly telling him that I had never had sex yet! At that time I knew I was gay, but had not become sexual active at all! He provided no helpful information about safe sex or coming out, and he seemed not to believe that I didn't need an HIV test. This was an extremely hurtful and disappointing experience to have from a healthcare provider. I hope that his awareness and training has improved.
