I went to Dr. Smith after my (inexperienced) dentist thought I might need a root canal. When I visited Dr. Smith and asked for his opinion about whether the root canal was necessary, he was very rude, said "I'll do whatever you want", and "pushed" me out of his office. Basically, he seemed only interested in doing the root canal. Isn't he supposed to be the expert and offer his expert opinion? Because I was uncomfortable with his response, I decided to visit a second well-regarded endodontist and, after taking additional x-rays, he determined the root canal was unnecessary. A visit to another dentist, and the subsequent filing, also verified that the root canal was unnecessary. After speaking with other people familiar with Dr. Smith, they informed me he has a history of performing questionably necessary root canals. Unless it's obvious that you need a root canal, I would highly recommend you get a second opinion before visiting Dr. Smith as it appears he will perform a root canal whether necessary or not. Also, I did not appreciate his attitude and would not definitely not recommend him.
Worst experience ever went in for a consultation cause I was in pain to see so called Doctor Smith came in looked at xrays and told me to open my mouth. He was going to stick the needle to start the root canal, didn't explain anything. I stopped him told him to give me more info...he ignored me and said if you want to do it its fine if not its fine too. Asked to get my xrays which they made me take there. Cause said mine were too old 3 months earlier. I went to the front desk and asked the receptionist for a copy of xrays they had taken she said she would ask the doctor came back and said no. With the assistant that was in the room i asked why she said the ones i bought were the same. I left i was so shocked of what just happened I called my general dentist for medication they said to call Smiths office back that they should give me a prescription. So I did the assistant picked up I told her and she said that cause they had not done anything they couldn't. I asked to speak to the docto
having needed dr. smith to perform two root canal procedures, i would give him A+. he resolved my issues with care and concern for my comfort and the well being of my teeth. i encountered no problems in his office with his assistants or with dr. smith and his opinion. he presented options to me, leaving the choice up to me with no pressure. i was his last patient that day, and he did not rush me, rather encouraged me to make a decision after taking time to think, and he made me feel comfortable to ask as many questions and take as much time as i needed. i felt very comfortable with his knowledge and the interaction with this kind gentleman. it is easy to overhear conversations with other patients in many of the offices i have been in recently. i heard no unkind words or inappropriate tones in his office. having been his patient this month and 5 years ago, i would recommend his services to my friends and family. if he had only been interested in money as referenced in another review, then a second tooth could have been involved in my treatment. however, i was encouraged to wait and see if performing the root canal on the tooth beside it would correct the problems of pain i was experiencing...and it did. i totally disagree with the other person that procedures are done without being necessary. jean boyd patterson
