Dr. Patel and 1 receptionist are both great, but as for ALL the other staff, MOSTLY the ORAL SURGEN, they are terrible. My wife and I went today 4/15/13 to get her 4 wisdom teeth extracted. She was told she would not be conscious for the procedure. First, when they took her in the back, no one attended to her for over 20 minutes. Second, when the ORAL SURGEN appeared, my wife informed him of the current anxiety medication she takes. He simply told her that his method of anesthesia would not be as effective and continued with the procedure. My wife asked what could be done to change this, but the surgeon did not reply. After administering the medicine the doctor began to extract her wisdom teeth. Still conscious and unaffected by the medicine, my wife immediately screamed for mercy. Surgeon did not stop and did not respond to her cry of extreme discomfort. He extracted all 4 impacted wisdom teeth within 5 minutes. Next, the SURGEON through down his extraction tools and exited the room. Suregeon slammed gauze pads into my wife's mouth, practically gagging her. Staff then walked my wife out to a chair in the waiting room and told her they would be right back. I was informed that the regular dentist would be out in a few minutes to provided instructions on care of 4 extracted areas. From that point on, no one talked to us. Twenty five minutes later, I asked the medical assisted working at the front desk what was going on because my wife was in extreme pain and although many Dentists and staff were walking by us, no one was acknowledging out presence. The office manager acted as if we were not there. The Dentist never came out and the Oral Surgeon was observed walking right by use and out the front door. The Medical assistant provided us with a package containing gauze and instructions on surgical procedure recovery. Included was a card for follow up appointment and prescription for pain medicine and antibiotics. Upon immediate review of scripts, I noticed the antibiotic was one that my wife had clearly reported she is allergic to. Medical Assistant said, "oops, sorry, ok, I guess I can try and get you a different one." 15 minutes later, after walking my wife to the car, I returned to receive a different script for an antibiotic she could take. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. THE ORAL SURGEON is pathetic and unprofessional. They did not follow through with original plan to extract while my wife was under anesthesia, they did not listen to her when she proclaimed this medicine had not worked, they continued with procedure although she requested them to stop, they endangered her well being after procedure by placing her in the waiting room, bloody, swollen and in severe pain, they did not make sure she was stable afterwards, etc., etc. The ORAL SURGEON needs to be brought up on MAL-PRACTICE charges and the entire place needs to be inspected by the state and medical board. We will never go there again. I could he drilled my wifes 4 teeth out myself and she would have had a better experience. At this Dental Service you are only a number to them. What kind of professional service does not review the list that its patients present during admission stating allergies to certain medications. This office in Eatontown, NJ is a rush, hush, business that needs to be shut down. NEVER AGAIN will we go there and they need to be shut down so the harm they are causing people will cease.
