The one star is for her staff only. They are nice enough. Karen McCarthy herself, I do not much like. I knew I was going to have braces on for a while, but after four years, and many attempts to speed up this process, she still has not talked about me getting my braces off. On top of this she tends to be rude and hardly ever answers the questions I have. When she does, the answer is normally a "Maybe," or "I don't know."

They answered most of my questions but I could have used more information. Their staff was friendly enough, but they didn't go out of their way to help me. They didn't help me as much as I was hoping and didn't answer all my questions. The office was easy enough to find.

***I went to Dr. McCarthy for braces. After visiting her to examine my teeth and discuss possible plans of braces, I scheduled another appointment to further discuss my plans of getting braces. Upon my next appointment, without seeing me or informing me what was to occur, her assistant immediately prepped me for braces. Seeing it was my first time receiving braces, I did not know I would actually be receiving it till she came in and placed the metal brackets in my mouth. I asked my friend who had recommended her, and she also told me that she did not clarify when she did procedures, instead assumes the patient knows what they are in for and goes ahead with it. All the while she was working on my braces, she did not talk me through as to what she was doing inside my mouth or how to maintain my braces. She did tell me that my braces should be coming off in about half a year. Afterwards, I had monthly check ups with her where she tightened and replaced the wires in my mouth. One time, she cut the wire inside my mouth and had LEFT the 2cm piece of wire that she had just cut off in my mouth. It was after I left the office, that I found the piece of wire tucked between my gum and lip. I was lucky to have found it, but that piece of wire could have cut my intestine or throat or what have you, if I had swallowed it. This was not the first time I received this lack of care from her. It will be a year the end of this month, and I still have my braces.

Definitely! It was one of the best dental chairs I've ever been in!
