Not impressed. If you like a dentist who explains things to you go elsewhere. If you want a dentist who gives you options, run...run away from this one.

I went for a regular checkup. They did xrays and pretty soon I was told I was done, but that I would need some more work. I asked for explanation of follow-up work, but he didn't quite take the time to explain it. Unlike every other appointment I ever had with other dentists, he barely cleaned my teeth. Probably spent 2 minutes cleaning. Seriously. And NO NOT because my teeth were very clean.

So I came out of the room all confused. I had to probe the secretary outside for a good while to extract information...as to what the heck was happening. They were going to send the xrays to my insurance company to get pre-approval for deep cleaning. And he wants to fix one tooth. There it is...plain and simple. Neither the dentist nor the secretary put it that way. I shouldn't have to spend 15 minutes to extract it out of them. I still didn't know which tooth they were talking about.

After I got out, I started thinking that I should have gotten a regular cleaning, regardless of whether I was coming back for deep cleaning or not.

Bottom line...extremely poor communication. I can't comment on the quality of their work, because they didn't do any work. The cleaning the dentist did was pathetic. I don't know why he even bothered.

I had two caps put on by this guy. One didn't fit right. It was too large and was putting too much pressure on my jaw. I went back to Chen and complained. He said it was fine and that it was my jaw. I then went to a Jaw specialist in West Orange. He looked at it and told me that the tooth was the problem. Not only that, by then the root of the tooth had died and my jaw had a massive infection. Chen had ground down the veneer over the metal base of the crown and it could not be removed anymore. He didn't want to have to replace it and pay the money.
I had to go to a very expensive endodontist and another dentist to get it fixed. I spent big money on this tooth thanks to Chen.
Not only that, but he ran between his operatories working frantically! Not a great feeling sitting there having him work for three minutes then run to the next room.
This was about ten years ago. If I had known better I would have sued him.
This guy is a hack and a cheat. Avoid him at all costs.
