DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE !!!!!!
MONDAY - MAY 6th, 2013

My son had awful tooth ache since Sat pm - crying and holding his mouth
once the medicine wore off every 5 hours - so I had been giving him tylanol and
advil together since then and numbing his gums - even through the night.

I called for an appointment first thing Mon - Jackie was great - got me right in. 9:20am

When Dr whipple arrived my son was in the seat waiting. No greeting etc infact my son greeted her.
They determined the temporary filling was coming out and needed to be replace and a crown put on his baby tooth. She told me to schedule an appointment to have it done - THUR is what they said, obviously noone herd me earlier when I said I had been giving med since Sat pm, so I waited and said to Jackie at the desk, I have been giving my son meds every 5 hours since Sat I need something done sooner please.

We got an appointment for 2:30 that afternoon.
We came in he was prepared, given numbing injection which hurt a little no big deal,
and she worked on him for 30 mins - no problem he sat still as anything - well one twinge but all was ok. Dr whipple never once told him or me what she was doing or how long anything would take - not a word - nothing. They finish the refilling part and started working on preparing to put on the crown - WELL - she pushed that on there and he
saying oweee and complained for a min while she cont to press etc, he said that hurts - she said "you are going to feel pressure and there is nothing I can do about it". then proceeds to push it back on there etc so he starts complaining again - well she did not stop!!
She just kept on going......they held his mouth open and worked on it cont with him now yelling owww continuously. trying to talk with a thing in his mouth.
Tears started to stream down his face now - still no stopping or talking to him even.

I finally could not take it any longer and said is that area still numb ? Her reply flawed me. She said No - then I forget what she called it but the roof/inside of his mouth is not numb she said.
Then she says "we have to get the crown under the gums for it to stay". I look in there and his gums are bloody and red and looked painful where she had been fitting that crown.....and she went right back to working on him. He started yelling owwweee getting worked up now - he does not know when this will stop or how long until she stops. Tears started to run down his face and his body was now getting stiff
with tension, no word on what was going on or how long she would be still. I was getting upset now. I said can you not numb that area with gel or SOMETHING.

She had known she was going to be DIGGING around the inside area of that tooth where it was not numb and she knew that crown had to go down in the gums and she did not think to numb him ?????? Still she did not stop to numb him even now after I have said something - he is still yelling while I am thinking this - I am getting quite agitated now.
She now FINALLY has the crown on and was checking his bite.....telling him to bit hard - which he did still yelling it hurts, with many tears running down his face, I don't want to it hurts - she made him do this 3-6 times in all ( I know this has to be done but my word numb the child so it is not a horrid experience) - during this process now she ground some tooth in the lower section - which he hated - still yelling more so now that he is upset and still does not know when the end is. I asked is this almost done - no answer.

Then she looks at me with this hatred look and says this does not hurt - almost grinding her teeth while saying it. I gathered my self and said back as calmly as I could THEN WHY IS HE YELLING - her response was - "because some kids like to yell".

Now my kids has been in here 2-3 times and has NEVER had a problem before.

I could not believe it - this kid has sat through digging and drilling for 30 mins without
a peep and now you are actually hurting him where it was not numbed and you say he is yelling for no reason. Shortly after this she was done. My sons was all blotchy and you could see it has been a horrible experience for him. I walked out with my son.

You know a dentist visit is hard enough but when you have experiences like this so young FOR NO REASON that upsets me. She could have numbed the area AND she also could have offered gas - they have it in their office !!

I want this lady taken OFF the hudson Health list of providers and I would love for her not to be able to work on kids at all. I am a caring mother as it is so I always go into the dentist offices with my kids - I know when to speak and when to keep quiet - my son has had 2 pediatric root canals there - I forget what they are called. And he and I did fine with those so don't disregard this and think I am a over protective mother please. Look into it.

SHE SHOULD NOT BE WORKING ON KIDS. Come to find out I am not the only one complaining, I have heard a few stories and 2 of my friends told me I wish I had know you were going there she has no beside manner, is painful and is awful with children.

I have been to many dentists and in my estimation, across the board, this is the best dental service I have had. There is never a wait. Parking is 100 feet or less from entrance. Staff is great. I know I can trust Dr. Whipple and her staff with any dental problems. I had many problems not solved by many other dentists, Dr. Whipple made it seem easy. I could go on but you get the idea.

She was not the greatest dentist. She says something then later she changes her
hole entire sentence. She makes me feel unsacure and un-ease. Tomorrow I hvae another appointment (and a cavity) and I am affriad she will yell at me, and repremand me in a mean way. Sometimes, I have to persuade them that I have an important concern that needs their attention. There have been times that they've paid attention to my concerns, but not many. They definitely could have been more polite. It's really important to me to have a comfortable chair to sit in during my dental procedure, and their chairs were very comfortable. It was nice to be able to be comfortable during my entire procedure.
