My sons have been going to Dr. Jim for the past 13 years. They love Dr. Jim and so do I. He is always so polite and so is his staff. Very knowledgeable. They make the children feel very comfortable about going to the dentist.

Care for my child at the office appointments has been okay (nothing horrible to report thankfully). But the staff has been rude and pushy in the past. I overlooked it, but no longer. On two occasions the office called the morning of an appointment and insisted that I come in over an hour before my child's scheduled appointment because they had an opening and it was convenient for them. I specifically arrange my work meetings around doctor appointments and often cannot make such a last-minute change. The staff member that called did not ASK if I was available to come in earlier, but rather DEMANDED it, which I have never encountered at any other practice. Hopefully, Dentica will reevaluate how they communicate with patients and make improvements. Also, their waiting period for appointments, from checkups to IV sedation, is longer than I have experienced at any other pediatric dentist. Finally, I had a billing problem with Ambulatory Anesthesia Associates, who they use, and I have not had any billing problems with anesthesiologists at other practices. Bottom line: Their staff does not respect their patients, and I have lost respect in them. recommend trying other pediatric dentists.

Be advised that you should double check your insurance is accepted before you go here (don't rely on them to do it for you). My insurance was accepted for periodontics, but it was not until after the fact (and my 3 yr old sons' appointment) that I was informed my insurance was not accepted for pediatric dentist services. My complaint is with the incompetent receptionist(s). I also didn't like that every time I called I would get an automatic recording asking me to leave a message. I always had to wait for them to call me back--kind of inconvenient.

The dentists are good and the hygienists are nice, but I will never go back there because of the way the receptionist treats people. The lady who sits at the window and "greets" you was rude, condescending and dismissive, visit after visit. I finally got sick of it and switched dentists. Word to the wise Drs. Goldsmith... if the first person your customer comes into contact has a bad attitude, it may be time to hand out the pink slip.

In my opinion, Dr. Jim was the worst possible dentist I could have taken my child to. My 4 year old daughter had to have x-rays and two caps. First, my impression was my daughter would be put to sleep by the medicine. Then the valium she was given tasted terrible, which you would think a pediatric dentist would have something that tasted good to children. My daughter cried and screamed when the novicane was given. Then I calmed her down and the same thing happened with the second shot. From there came the drill and of course she lost it. Dr. Jim yelled in my daughters face twice. I had to lay on her body and hold her down just so he could get to a stopping point and we could leave. He suggested we come back and have her put under but it would cost more and wouldnt happen for five months. My daughter and I left in tears. Some of the female staff members who assisted were also rude and chastized my child for things she couldn't possibly understand. Miserable. Then when I returned to get x-ray copies for the new dentist, they made me sign a waiver for just a paper print out of the x-ray and talked to me rudely about the x-rays when I asked how to read them. I was calm and nice to them at each visit because I didn't feel that going nuts on them, as I wanted to, would benefit my child's mental state. She was scared enough, seeing her mother yell at the dentist wouldnt have helped. But I will review Dr. Jim on every website I can find so that other children dont have to experience this. Nothing about the visit was fast, easy or pleasant. I will never return, never recommend Dr. Jim and tell everyone I know how awful our experience was. (This occured in April of this year and the follow up appointment would have been in September. I visited Childrens Dental for initial appointments and my daughter had her caps by the end of July.)

Surprised at the wait time for an appointment (over 4 months) so I will have to report back on how the actual appointment for my child went. But staff answered all questions in a professional manner.
