I was an oppositional and depressed child when I came to see Dr. Faedda. In concert with Dr. Nancy Austin with whom he wrote a book, I was "treated" and sent to a residential treatment program from 13-17. These arrogant, callous "doctors" played into my narcissistic and abusive father and declared I would never be able to live at home. They seized on an opportunity with the release of The Bipolar Child (Papolos) to create an atmosphere of fear and panic which pathologized my every emotion.

If I had the resources to hold Faedda accountable I would, I had many years of my life stolen by over medication and his nonchalant declarations of my incompetence. It is horrifying to know that he is still practicing. Make no mistake this Dr is preying on the vulnerability of mentally ill children without a voice.

I'm putting my full real name so he know exactly who this is.

They were so easy to reach in an emergency, they answered my call immediately. It is a relief to know that I can count on them to always be there for me when I need them the most. Not only were they able to provide everything they promised me, they went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. I was very glad that my appointment went the way it did. They were so much more knowledgeable than I ever expected them to be, and they gave me fantastic advice. They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. They have some of the best customer service I have ever seen. Putting their customers first is definitely a priority here and it shows.

Dr Faedda is known as an expert in BiPolar Disorder. After years of receiving a misdiagnosis as depressive, Dr Faedda recognized my true condition and helped to stabilize me. I was his pt approx 7 years. As far as chairside manner, I found Dr Faedda difficult, at best. His arrogance makes communication about personal feelings and issues almost impossible. He tends to be uncommunicative, and can lash out defensively if questioned about meds and treatment. I experienced this attitude when I was unable to have required blood tests done due to lack of energy and stamina. He yelled at me, concerned about losing his medical license if I did not get tested as ordered. Shortly thereafter, I was found to have hypo-thyroidism = very low energy due to lithium intake. Lastly, dr Faedda left the psych practice in Forest Hills with no explanation. All patients were assigned to other doctors who, again, offered no explanations. People skills= zero. And I had one major abandonment issue to deal with.
