Although my symptoms had stopped just prior, I went to Urffer for a standard-procedure steroid injection to ward off hearing loss from a recent acoustic trauma to my right ear. He refused unless I agreed to a hearing test and sure enough the audiologist incompetently blasted my right ear causing more damage! I ran out of that shop of horrors but now suffer everyday with debilitating hissing.
They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. They were extremely argumentative and became angry very easily. I was trying to explain my situation and they just contradicted everything I was saying before I could finish. This provider has no helpful information available online, apart from their address and phone number. They just have a basic listings page. Every time I've called and left a message, I've never heard back. It's extremely annoying. The parking situation at their office was ridiculous. I ended up having to pay for parking because there were no spots available near the office.
I went to Dr. Urffer specifically to have a steroid injection given to combat possible hearing loss due to an accidental acoustic trauma incident. He agreed this is a wise hearing loss recovery technique. He ordered an audiology exam prior to any injection in order to see the status of my hearing. However, this was useless because I had never had a prior hearing exam to compare it with. I expressed my concerns to him but he did not care. So, I went into the audiology testing room and sure enough, the audiologist makes a mistake with the volume and blasts my right ear!!...the ear I wanted to be treated for! I rip the earphones out and fly out of there in a rage. It's now been 3 months and I have to try and get used to this new hissing noise in my right ear which is at the same pitch as that audiologist's voice! Why didn't Dr. Urffer just give me the steroid shot without the headgames? There was nothing to lose by giving the steroid shot!! I now have to take anti-anxiety meds to not kill myself. He permanently worsened my tinnitus. For the love of God, do not go to this quack!
