I told the office I was going to pay cash – they quoted me a range of $300-$500 for the tests. When I left the visit, I was charged $530 and told I paid THE FULL AMOUNT, and my insurance WOULD NOT BE CHARGED.

The office then immediately billed my insurance (information they got from my referring doctor, not from me). The insurance company paid them $262. And then, 4 months later, the doctor's office came after me for an additional $167 – saying that is what the insurance did not cover.

When I called to clear things up, they informed me that the person who took my payment was not an employee of theirs and therefore did not represent them. And if she told me the bill was paid in full, she was wrong. And that I owed them the money. And they would "ruin my credit rating" if I did not pay.

Who cares if he is a good doctor or not (and I have serious doubts about that myself, as the $1000 in testing resulted in absolutely no information) his office engages in deceptive billing practices!
