Dr. Russell has suggested and operated 2 separate surgery’s on me, none of which I believe were necessary and one that has left me lasting side effects. The first surgery was for a deviated septum. I believe the surgery was done well, however I have not noticed any beneficial success from the surgery. I was laid up about a week longer than what I was relayed was normal from Dr. Russell. The second surgery was a Uvulectomy. I was told that my Uvula was abnormally large and my throat small, resulting in the reason behind my snoring. I paid $500 out of pocket as this procedure is not covered by any insurance plan (because it’s not a necessary surgery). Because it is not covered by insurance there is no anesthesia. The procedure was explained to me as simple and quick. The procedure was actually a nightmare. You are required to hold onto your own uvula with a pair of prongs, while the doc cuts into your mouth, while the nurse rubs your shoulders and tells you how good of a job you are doing. This is not what was explained to me in my previous visits, and hope I never have to do anything remotely like this ever again. The recovery took about 7 days as relayed, but this procedure resulted in no changes. I still snore like crazy (I’m not overweight or old), my mouth is always dry, and I can no longer take large drinks of fluids or it comes out my nose. I did a lot of research on this procedure beforehand and heard a lot of negative things, but ultimately trusted this doctor and wound up paying the price, a week off work, dry mouth, can’t drink fluids like I use to and I’m out $500. This procedure will not fix your snoring, don’t trust Dr. Russell’s word for it.
