Today I visited the facility and was met by a very friendly, well spoken and informative Admissions Director. Based on the paperwork from Carolinas Hospital regarding my father's health condition, Michelle was able to give me a brief overview of the care he would need and what services would be available to him. . Michelle answered all my questions and included a tour of the facility. I look forward to getting my dad settled in his new home.

I worked for this place, and I have never seen so many unprofessional people in my life! That majority of the nurses and the CNA'S have terrible attitudes. They don't know how to work together without acting like elementary students. They stab each other in the back, there's constantly drama and hating going on, everyday they fight against each other. They use profanity all morning, noon and night, I even saw one CNA with what appeared to be coke in her nose twice! When the family members come around, they act professional because they are very deceitful. If you love your family don't take them there unless they are able to talk and alert. If you are a nurse or CNA looking for employment, don't go there. The CNA'S are under paid, the work load that they put on each shift is overbearing. This place gave me the worst workplace experience of my life. Yes even some of the office staff have nasty attitudes and aren't very friendly

The problem I encountered at Heritage relates to the fact that the admission staff was not interested in admitting my mom to the facility. It appeared that her decision was not based on clinical or financial reasons, it may have been based on Race. Many of her statements were very discouraging. For example, Michelle Turner, stated that they did not have any "medicare beds", So, I asked about non-medicare beds and she stated that my mom would have to pay an advance fee for a non-medicare bed. I said I am fine with paying the advace fee and asked how much. She stated $11,500 for 80 days. I said, ok and what is the next step? She stated that she would contact me later. Well, she did not contact me but the case worker from McCleod hospital stated that Heritage denied my request but did not state the reason. However, in speaking with many residents from in and around Florence, SC, I was told that Heritage has a reputation of denying minorities from its facility. Well, I can only share my experience and was very disappointed with Heritage's admission staff. I'm also disappointed that nursing homes can deny a request for admission without providing any reason to the family and/or hospital. Thankfully, I live in a major city where equal/fair treatment is very important. However, some nursing homes in the small city of Florence need a lesson in the importance of civil rights and equal and fair treatment for All.
