My mother was in this facility in October of 2007 and unfortunately this is where she died. It is NOT a nice place, the staff is extremely unfriendly and uncooperative. When I checked her in, I gave them a printed list of ALL the family contact names and phone numbers, it was literally a page long as I am 1 of 8 children. When the day came that my mom was taken to the hospital, where she passed later that day, I NEVER received a phone call from Lakeview. The call I received was from the doctor at the hospital telling me the status of my mother's condition. When I turned on my cell phone before leaving for the hospital, only then did I get the messages from Lakeview. Even that was infuriating, there were 2 messages, 1 said she was being taken to St. Joe's in Wayne and the next said she was being taken to Chilton Memorial. I was Infuriated that they only called my cell, at 2:00 in the morning by the way, and NEVER BOTHERED to call any other number on the list I provided upon check in. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor, FIND SOMEPLACE ELSE to take them, this is NOT the place you want them to spend their last days in!!!!!

Don't be fooled by the smiles you get when first visiting the facility. What appears to be a friendly atmosphere is really an institution that when visitors leave all hell breaks loose and the patients care declines. B set to try other places as this is not the place for your loved one. Good luck and know that much research is needed before selecting a place as it is easy to fall prey to this place.

As the lovely young woman from Guest Relations had said to me, "Its hard enough being away from the comforts of home when you are feeling at your worst, that's why I'm here. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible in your time of need. I'll make sure to check on you daily and be sure you're getting the best care possible." And she did. Not only was the Nursing staff helpful, the food was VERY good and if I wasn't fond of what I had picked off of their menu that day, that young lady would come around at meal times and offer to get me something else. Everyone from the Social Workers to the Dietary staff treated me with dignity and kindness. Even in the evenings, after dinner time, the Guest Relations woman would stop by my room almost every night and spend her time keeping me company (one time we spent 20 minutes chatting, she was trying to figure out what I like to do for fun. Can you believe the day before I got discharged she went out of her way to find my favorite game so we could play it on her off hours?) This staff really goes above and beyond.
The Physical Therapy staff was absolutly AMAZING! It's a fun atmosphere and you can feel that they really do care about your recovery and give you the mental strength to push yourself harder. All they wanted to do was help me recover as fast as possible so that I could go home to my family.
As awful as it was to be away from home for such a length of time, they really made me feel like part of their family. It was a comfort and I made some wonderful friends. I truly miss them.

My mother went into Lakeview for rehab (she is a paraplegic) after a heart attack. Approximately 1 month later she was sent home with a bedsore at least 3 inches wide and deep.

We did not know about this until a visiting nurse came to the house a day later. She was shocked: so was my mother, and all our family.

SHe was not moved frequently to prevent bedsores. When she asked for help to be moved, no one would come. For physical therapy she was put in a wheelchair and my brother-in-law heard the nurse would refuse to take her out. No one would help her with her bathroom needs- everyone passed it off, day to day, until 4-6 days would go by.
The drugs she was on made her sleepy and paranoid. Within hours of being home, her head was clear. Only then, and when the nurse found the bedsore, have we all put our stories together, and the picture of neglect was horrendous.

Yes, people were friendly. It was clean. It looked nice. But what they did to my mother was a nightmare. She had to go to the hospital by ambulance and is awaiting surgery now (June 29th). She has a good chance of dying from this. If anyone wants information or has another story to add, please call 206 328 2804. Kathy Barker
