The staff are more concerned with their private lives to care about the residents, a lot of gossip, favoritism , very bad attitudes, unprofessionalism, the residents deserve better. They are just a $ sign to them, the facility is always short staffed.

Not only is the staff unqualified the DON is not good either..... She could care less of any of the residents that live there...... She is loud and very obnoxious. "Don't put your loved one in this situation"

oakbrook is the best facility in smith county. My mom has lived there for 9 years and the staff is always considerate and very kind. The environment is homey.

We are currently in the process of moving my mother from Oakbrook nursing home due to: lack of training of nurses and nurses aids, leaving patients on bed pans for at least 1/2 hour, aids shutting off call button saying they will be right back then patient is left waiting to use bathroom for 1.5 hours for next shift, showers are suppose to be 3x week only get about once a week and have to complain to get that, and missing cell phone cord during church service. My mother is also self pay at $140 a day. What worries me is the elderly patients who are of not sound mind who can't voice their concerns. I would think that the employees would want to make this a better facility since their reputation is on the line as well if they decide to go else where for employment. Social worker lied to a transfer facility saying he did not know anything about the patient wanting to transfer when him and my mom spoke for two hours trying to talk her out of moving the facility just the night before.

My aunt has been at Oakbrook for 3 years. In that time....the facility has definitly gone down hill. They cannot keep their staff. Every month there are new nurses and new aids.
I cannot count the times I have gone in and checked the time written on her diapers.....the longest time a diaper has been left on was for 6 hours. Floor nurses and aids do not communicate. I can't keep track but when I check on her nightly.....there may be 3 employees that have been there since she came....it's like a revolving door for employees.
Now I get notice....$5.00 increase a day and we pay out of pocket. I am exploring other facilities at this time.
