Only gave this place one star because you have to in order to post a review. I wouldn't board my dogs there. The staff was horrible.

In the past year, the facility has changed significantly. The administration has completely changed. The facility administrator is new as of July 2014. The nursing administration is new as of October. Winchester Lodge is committed to ensuring an open door policy to ensure that all residents feel that they are wanted and respected. Families are encouraged to speak with staff about concerns and thanks to make sure that their relatives are getting the best care. Unfortunately, poor staffing in the past has tarnished the reputation of the facility. Staff are working to restore the reputation that this area is used to and has come to expect from a high quality nursing facility. Visitors are encouraged to meet the administrative staff and come in for a tour.

My Mom and our Family have also experienced this place to be a nightmare. from the very First night, I felt very uncomfortable and very afraid for my mom, Ms. Platinum I totally feel your pain, its very sad that our Elderly are exposed to the environment that is so prevalent. the CNA's generally take brakes together, and literally play around, while call lights are on at residents rooms. I know, that most residents are taken out in the morning and left there All day until 2 o'clock shift gets there, and IF they want to will Finally bring them in to change their diaper that is filled with urine and feces!!!! what goes around, comes around though. God sees everything, oh and, This place needs to be inspected, and if they don't comply, then YANK that license, and lock those doors!!!

THIS IS THE HELLHOLE OF ALL NURSING HOMES!!! BEWARE!!! IF YOU CARE ANYTHING FOR YOUR ENDEARED ONE THEN DO NOT PUT THEM HERE!!!! ...unless of course u want them brutalized or dead. My mom has late stage Alzheimer's Disease which was highly impacted by 2 major strokes in Feb 2013. In Feb 2014, was sent there AGAINST MY WISHES by an awful Dr. Dang Thai Duc at St. Luke's & her evil daughter, Rose Steele who together with her awful boyfriend, Bob Macon, who want to commit her there permanently. 1st nite she suffered 1/3 subdural hematomas due to lack of security measures altho she had a bright yellow "FALL RISK" wristband & was told "palliative care". They also housed her in a room back of the nursing stations so no one could monitor the hall. All those injuries were to the face and head region; the third one was the worse where her right cheek swelled to 2x her face; it looked like someone hit her than a fall. She was physically abused by staff on the 4th injury which included numerous bruising to the arms, wrists, hands and legs before transferring her to a psych unit. Due to my complaint, TX Dept of Aging & Disability has even found this place in violation of codes and laws Sandra Pecot, Adminstrator is a scandalous person who disrespected
me as her Rep Payee & took possession of her social security checks disregarding my mom's bills and my repeated instructions for her to be discharged from there. She also violated a HIPAA authorization & release of information, refusing to release my mom's medical records to me. I am my mom's true POA which Winchester refused to honor since the second one is invalid due to coercion and mental incapacity. They have given my mom medication they aren't supposed to by their negligent doctors and won't let me take her to her own doctors. Last week, my mom had a urinary tract infection and no one knew she was feverish until I brought it up to the nurse. Most of them are VERY RUDE, constantly hanging up on me and this place is significantly understaffed which is the reason why the phones always constantly ring and ring. ITS LUDICROUS THAT TEXAS ALLOWS THIS SORT OF ELDER ABUSE TO CARRY ON AND THAT THE RIGHTS OF ELDERS CAN BE TAKEN AWAY SO EASILY!!! ITS A SHAME NOT ONE PI OR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE ATTORNEY WUD TOUCH IT....I KNOW I'M STILL SEARCHING! Places like these especially from SALVA SENIOR CARE, LLC should be SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY!! They DO NOT care about the quality of human life period. I am the only one fighting for her to get out so she can die in dignity and in peace

My mother was in the nursing home for 3 years. When she entered the facility, she was not diabetic. She passed away from acute renal failure a few days ago. She had been diabetic for quite some time and the nursing home doctors nor staff didn't have a clue. I was told they did routine labs, which could not be possible as they would have detected the extremely high sugar levels in my mother. For the past 6 months I voiced my concerns about my mothers appearance including her swelling feet and was only met with one excuse after another. Would I recommend this nursing home to a friend?? Absolutely not. Rude and uninterested aides in the Dementia unit. I found this facility totally unacceptable.

This is a very bad nursing home. The administrator is never there or available. The head nurse is lies to clients families and is extremely argumentative and became angry very easily. They either didn't read my information or didn't pay any attention to it. Even though they had my information right in front of them, I kept having to explain it to them and remind them why I was there. I've never seen a provider be so unprofessional. They obviously do not care about their reputation in the community here because they are very nasty to people.
