When I accidentally backed over our family cat in the driveway we took her to Big Creek Animal Hospital. Dr. Kim did a great job and we are still enjoying have our cat in the family.
As a first and last time customer who was charged for an office visit, I did expect to interact with the vet at some point. Apparently the vet observed the condition and commented to the tech during the nail trim in the back room. The tech relayed the information upon their return to the exam room. This was unprofessional and for what they charged, unethical.
Yes, by-the-way, I could overhear your comments in the back room. No, my dog doesn't require a "handling fee" because she doesn't like to get her nails trimmed. I was up front with her behaviors so the tech ought to have known what to expect. If she wasn't a stinker about her nails, I would do them myself. I have had techs and vets work with her that understand her fear of people messing with her feet and with good results.
In the future, I wouldn't take a chicken to this quack. Caveat emptor.
