My dog was neutered at Bridge Port in November 2011 as the price was right. But I soon realized why the prices are sooo low, they cut corners and don't explain what you're paying for (or NOT paying for!). They offered an option for "safer anasthetic" at a higher price - what??? I was shocked to learn that they sedate these poor guys when removing their testicles instead of putting them under a full general anasthetic where they don't feel any pain. Then I was offered "pain medicine" at an additional cost - They don't even send your pet home with any form of pain control despite having had surgery! The receptionist told me pain medicine isn't needed because they need to be sore in order to stay still and not move around much. I hated the thought of my dog being sore to the point he wouldn't want to move. When my dog came home he was still so groggy I had to carry him inside. The next day his surgery site was bleeding and I learned the skin had been closed with some sort of glue!!!!!!!!! Come on!!!!! How is glue suppose to hold a skin incision closed?????? I called around to other animal hospitals and found out that most other hospitals always put dogs under full anasthetic (the safest option), always send home pain medication, put them on fluids to ensure they have their blood pressure maintained and they recover faster, and always use sutures NEVER glue!
This clinic is low cost because they cut corners and don't care about your pets safety or comfort. If they did care they would always use the safest anasthetic, give pain relief and use sutures over glue to make sure the neuter site didn't open up and bleed the very next day.
