The Salem Blue Ridge Surgery Center was the best experience that I ever had for an outpatient procedure. The waiting area was very clean and I noticed the admitting staff come outside their office and wipe down the admission desk area every 30 minutes. Admission staff very helpful and friendly. The outpatient GI nursing staff very knowledgeable, courteous and respectful. Dr. Brian Vanderlinden performed my procedure in the most caring manner and I felt very safe under his care. I think he is the most expert GI physician in the valley! Everything went well and I would highly recommend the Salem Blue Ridge Surgery Center!

My son had his adenoidectomy on December 23, 2016. The experience was better than I thought it would be with the only exception being the waiting room situation. Crowded and loud. Staff was incredible from office to pre op and holding to post op! I was allowed to accompany my 4 year old to the OR until he was asleep. I was updated regularly, which I appreciate because as a mom(and a mom of an autistic non verbal child) I was nervous. I think they saw that. I don't know about how adult patient experiences go but mine with my sons was very good!

I have absolutely no intention to ever have surgery/outpatient procedures at this facility again. The waiting room was packed full of patients and my procedure was delayed. People were treated like cattle as we were hustled in and out of each "step" in the process; one staff person I encountered correctly identified this facility as having an "assembly line." Only 2 of the 15-20 staff I encountered during my one visit were friendly - most were simply indifferent but 5 were even rude. It is very obvious that this facility only cares about making money from patients in any possible way. The operating surgeon is one of the partners drawing a profit from the facility, so based on my overall start-to-finish experience, I now question whether this procedure was really necessary. Payment in full (of the ESTIMATED out-of-pocket amount after insurance) is due prior to the surgery; it must be paid in full before the surgery. This seemed irrelevant to me at the time, but when I noticed a billing error (of several hundred dollars) after the procedure, I was denied a refund of the overpayment. To really rub salt in the wound of what was already a bad experience, I accompanied a family member for surgery at a different local facility, and this patient's experience was the complete opposite of my experience (five stars in every category). It really made me realize how awful Blue Ridge Surgery truly is. I gave this facility 1/2 star only because the doctors/nurses/staff didn't kill me while performing my procedure.
