I wasn't too impressed with their office, I could tell they didn't take much pride in it's appearance. I'm not always sure that they're going to work with me until they find a solution, and sometimes it seems like they're going to give up on trying to help me. I don't feel like I can always count on them. It was not easy to reach them in an emergency. I had to call several times before I finally reached them.

We did not expect the Waldorf-Astoria by any means, however this place is in dire need of a State Inspection. The outside of Hermitage House is very nice- too bad they forgot about the interior. It appears that nothing has been repainted since it was built; All interior walls were dirty, dingy, & faded which played off nicely with the added ambiance of institutional fluorescent lighting. The floors and baseboards throughout need a good scrub brush taken to them. The patient room (my friend's Mom) had a spider 's web of tangled tv cables coming through the closet ceiling running out of closet into walkway of patient room, not even tacked against wall, just a jumbled mess on floor- a clear danger of tripping- great way to fall and break a hip!

The room was supposedly just cleaned, yet the cables were still on floor and the dresser drawer's were filled with lollipop wrappers, used Q-tips, and uneaten scraps of food. The aforementioned closet had its wood slats all askew with some on floor which we put back into the closet door all the while throwing out a jumble of nasty bent outta shape wire hangars that were also on closet floor. I can go on, but I think this should give you an idea.

Needless to say, my friend & I checked out his Mom asap. I can't comment on the staff nor standard of care since that wouldn't be fair- his Mom wasn't there long enough (!!!!) to give a fair and accurate assessment. All I can say is they seemed very nice & helpful. Many times they can only do their best with what they've been given to work with; Supposedly has new owners. Let's hope they open the corporate checkbook for some paint, mops & scrub brushes, disinfectant and hire a competent cleaning crew and maintenance person.

Note to owners of Hermitage House- a new Lowes opened a few miles up!! They even sell cleaning supplies!

I left there so depressed with tears in my eyes..such a terribly depressing place.
