Although I am thankful for the fact that my aging Mother has some place to stay, I am concerned about her health because it is a constant 86 degrees in her apartment. The air conditioning is not turned on until mid May and then it is turned off in OCtober. The boilers/heat get turned back on October 15th. The heat/air conditioning is totally regulated by the owners of the building or management company, and when I tried to open a window for her to keep her from overheating, I was told that the boilers might freeze over, and that if there were any damages she would be responsible. After repeated attempts to get the situation fixed without any solution from the gfront office,I am left with no other alternative but to report the conditions to the state of VA tomorrow. Also, parking there is unacceptable. There are very limited spaces for visitors and they are on the street, or at a nearby clinic which is a LONG walk in inclement weather. The office staff is friendly, however and they have a lot of activities fro the residents. The halls are kept clean, as well as the social rooms. The rent is subsidized, so my Mother is only required to pay what her limited, fixed income will allow.
