There is a line from the movie (and book by the same title), The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe that describes Ed. Aslan is an enormous lion who is both wise, kind but also fierce ... and represents by allegory, Jesus. At one point, one of the four children who has happened into this land of Narnia asks about Aslan, "Is he safe?" To which one of the Narnians responds, "Safe? No, but he is good." That is Ed to me. He asks very penetrating questions, and is not interested in being perceived as "safe", but in getting to the root issues in a professional, deliberate, measured way that is not always "comfortable", but it is from a heart that is motivated by "compassionate confrontation." An extraordinary man.
