I attended marriage counseling with this provider. While it started out seeming like it would be good...I came to feel the counselor was completely fixated on "The 5 Love Languages" being the cure all for all possible marriage issues. He completely ignored when I brought up an episode of physical violence in the marriage, which caused me not to trust his willingness to address serious issue. Two sessions after the session where I mentioned the episode of violence (my husband shoving me hard enough to knock me to the floor--this was several years prior, but still, he should have immediately stopped everything and pursued this to make sure it was not an on going issue!), he cheerfully opened the session by saying he thought we were doing just fine, and he couldn't do more for us. Truthfully, my husband and I had been talking on the way to the session that we felt we needed to stop going because we were just spinning our wheels and not making any progress, so we agreed to terminate the sessions.
