I saw Lynn for about 10 visits. She was very caring and helped me deal with what was a concern at the time.

Over the course of my life, I have seen many counselors. Lynn was the best. She got me more than anyone else.

I saw her several years ago and went at least 3 days a week for almost two years. Now that I have had a substantial time to think about how she left an impact on my life, I wish I reported her to an ethics board for unscrupulous and negligent billing practices. On the whole, it was an experience that left me harmed. I lost trust in mental health practitioners. I hope she has received help with her own problems since then. It has taken a lot of work to undo the harm she caused.

I hesitate to write reviews, but after the treatment that I received from Ms. Buell, I decided to look and see if there were any reviews online who had similar experiences. I know it's just a few, but it looks like there are others who have not had a good experience with her.

I only went to see Ms. Buell once. The session went okay, but it did not feel authentic at all. I would tell her what I worked on in therapy before and how I felt, and she would put other words in my mouth. I'm a person who is aware of what I'm struggling with and what I've worked through. I'm aware that I get stuck with current issues, hence seeking help. I don't think she got this concept at all. Anyway, since I realize that the first session can often times be awkward, I felt no harm in scheduling another, so that's what I did. She did give a very concerned look when I told her that I wanted to see her every two weeks, not every week.

Now, it's the week of my upcoming appointment and I'm hit with a family emergency which I have to go home for (many miles away). It's a serious enough situation to where I am taking FMLA. So, it's a few days before my appointment, and I decide to inform her that I will not be making it to my appointment and will not be able to commit to therapy at this time. The first thing she tells me is that she will be charging me the full amount because I did not give her 48 hour notice (I was 1.5 hours off). Then she says that I must be angry and frustrated, and very text book responses. I asked her to reconsider on the charge, but she would not budge. She responded by talking about a first session can be hard. Yes, I'm VERY aware of this as I told her I am a Clinical Social Worker. I am also aware that some therapists have a huge desire to blame there clients when the work they are doing is either unsatisfactory or simply is not a good fit.

Ms. Buell continued to tell me that she would hold my appointment and hoped that I would come. I told her I couldn't be there! I felt very pressured to continue with therapy and utterly disrespected. This is something I am disappointed to see in a Social Worker as respect for a person's wishes is hallmark to our profession.

Maybe Ms. Buell would be a good fit for some people...but, this is the first experience with a therapist where I am completely unwilling to try again.

Lynn Buell is really just a terrible and insensitive psychoanalyst. She was unable to contain her facial expressions during our initial visit and made connections in our one-hour conversation that were incredibly far-fetched. She was a pure caricature of a psychoanalyst. I really do not recommend her to anyone.
