My daughter was 3 weeks old when she was admitted for a fever. I knew it was a virus b/c my son had had it 1 week prior and she had the viral rash appear while we were at the doctor's office. The nurses at the hospital did not know how to properly measure or weigh an infant. I had to teach them--seriously!! No formula was brought to us b/c they didn't have enfamil. They assumed that since all they had was Similac that we didn't need any. A 3 week old w/ vomiting and diarrhea NEEDS formula, pedialyte, or something!! The I.V. pump alarmed at night for at least 30 minutes- 1 hour and multiple calls to the nurses desk before it was attended to. My daughter's IV infiltrated (I assessed it; the nurses did not), and the doctor MADE her get her antibiotics as IM shots against my wishes b/c the 48 hour rule out cultures were over in 2 hours. The IM shots were administered by a nurse who has been a nurse longer than I have been alive, and she administered them using an archaic method---rubbing the injection site with her thumb with more force than an adult could handle---and she was doing it on a 3 week old infant. Now mind you, I was laying across my daughter telling her to stop, but she ignored me and kept torturing my infant. Less than 10 minutes after receiving her IM antibiotics, the doctor called to discharge us b/c what do you know--her cultures came back negative. Also the doctor treated her for herpes b/c her spinal tap was not clear (there was blood in it--which is common). So now my daughter has had multiple doses of unnecessary antibiotics.
Now 1 1/2 years after this hospital stay, we have received a letter from a collection agency saying that we did not pay our bill. We NEVER have received a bill from Sumner Regional. I didn't think this was out of the ordinary b/c I have received bills from past surgeries over a year post-op. We have payed ALL of our bills, and we have worked really hard to get our credit scores above 800. And now it is no telling what this has done to our credit. We are FURIOUS to say the least.

Their staff was somewhat friendly, but they didn't go out of their way to make me feel welcome. If I couldn't find anyone better, I'd return again, but I'm hoping I can find better service somewhere else. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. They answered most of my questions but I could have used more information. They told me a little bit about my treatments' risks and benefits, but I still didn't feel like I knew as much as I wanted to know. The nurses never answered the call lights. I felt alone. Even when I asked for pain medicine it took them an hour to even see what I needed let alone bring in my medicine.
