Dr. Shapiro is a crook and should be investigated for fraud. This man takes advantage of families who are in the stressful position of custody litigation and fleeces them for large sums of money. He in turn will deliver to you a poorly written boilerplate report riddled with typos and errors. I would figure for the ten thousand plus dollars he commanded he could at least run a spell check? When said errors were questioned he fell back on his tried and true response of "That's what was in my notes." Please note that he's been fleecing people for a long time so he's good at covering his bases. When
you communicate with Dr. Shapiro it will be either in person or via fax. When I asked why he didn't use email he stated that he hasn't caught up with the times. It was funny because during one of our sessions he paused for several minutes because he had to respond to an urgent email on his phone. I also found it strange that anytime he called his numbers were marked as private on the Caller ID. He would then direct us to have all calls go through his office so they went straight to the answering machine. In some cases we waited up to two weeks for a call back when he did decide to call.

Here are a few lessons I learned while working with this scumbag;

1. He demands his entire payment up front. If you do work our a payment plan with him he will constantly remind you that if he's not paid then no report to judge even when he's paid on time.
2. From what I've been told and experienced myself his reports are usually several months late with little or no reason. The attorneys love this because they get to have several status meetings with the judge while racking up their fees playing "Where's the Dr. Shapiro report?"
3. As other reviewers have mentioned you must lie, lie, and lie some more. He doesn't care about facts...only who tells the best story.
4. He likes to talk about his credentials and how he's the one in control. He also has very little patience.
5. His reports offer very little useful information. The report we received as mentioned was riddled with errors and typos. It also appeared that it was thrown together in a couple of hours with little or no thought/flow. What's funny is that after a quick Google search we found several similar reports from different doctors that match almost word for word the content of Dr. Shapiro's report we received. plagiarize much Dr. Shapiro?
6. For Ten-thousand dollars plus you get a MS word template that was copied from someone else and he just inserts the relevant party names.

So if you happen to find yourself in the position of getting Dr. Shapiro appointed to your case I would immediately file a motion for change. This guy is dangerous and I feel for all the families this hack has destroyed.

If you are forced to see Dr. Shapiro, do yourself a favor and take a tape recorder to ALL of your "meetings"!! I cannot suggest this urgency enough, he will twist your words, just as I have read in many other reviews. Also if you are forced to see this man for custody evaluation LIE, tell him what he wants to hear, lie through your teeth, bash the other parent. He is looking for the one whom can make up the best stories and lie the best. Honesty will only gain you a TERRIBLE review. He is bias, and he wants his ass kissed. So be so, so fake and pleasant, LIE, bash the other parent, make up stories about the other parent, even if you have no proof to back it up he does not care. You can have all the proof in the world and it will not help your case not one single bit! I wouldn't even choose one star for this man, but I had to. Do yourself a favor and if you are assigned to this man as your evaluator IMMEDIATELY put in a motion for a new evaluator!! This man has no clue about "psychology" or reading people whatsoever. Run!! Don not even give this man one single minute of your time!! Or one single penny!!

This guy is a joke. He milks the system for $$$$ and doesn't do the job he is hired for. He discredits whoever is the defendant in a divorce. He has no business determining what is "best for children". He is so far from reality and today's world.

This man is aweful. He will twist your words around. He is rude if you call and have a question because he is unable to bill for it. He is all about the money. He is shady and unethical. He does not care at all about the lives of innocent children! The man needs to retire and get some therapy for himself!

I was interviewed for my current husband's previous divorce. Mr Shapiro twisted my words around to make it sound as though I said something I did not intend. He is a crook! He is unethical! You know who I am Mr. Shapiro, you called me in Georgia. You don't deserve to be called Dr. as you are unethical and seem to only write to favor who paid for you (the ex wife). It seems you wrote a book and no longer believe in what you wrote (that's what you told the court...wasn't it?)...You represent your ethnic stereotype! For the sake for children involved in divorces, do what you were educated to do and correct; not what you were paid for!

Dr. Shapiro should consider retiring. Experts have a shelf life and I believe his is expired. He seems mostly interested in $$$$ and will twist your words into his report. Men beware!!!!!

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. Dr. Shapiro has the keenest mind I have ever met- my children and I owe him our lives. He gave them back to us. :) -greg
