there was a time that I gave Salem Vet Services 5 stars or more. Dr Yates made a HUGE difference when she was there. I have no idea what the hell is going on now. Especially with the RUDEST RECEPTIONIST I'VE EVER MET In my 10yr plus of taking my dog there. Her name is Nicole. they way she lies to it may not be her real name. She lied to me and to my pet insurance company while I had her and the pet insurance on speaker phone in conference call they could very clearly hear each other. SMDH! if Dr. Ann Cavender knows about such ill ugly rudeness and agrees with it. Then shame on her also. This Nicole person doesn't even call you by your name she'll call you SWEETIE with a very much disrespectful tone. Threw my records down on counter never hands anything to you politely . Its as though she has something against people of color or she is weeding out all of Dr. Yates patients. again if Dr. Ann Cavender knows of this and is going along with it. SHAME ON HER ALSO! If she doesn't know about it. THEN DR.ANN CAVANDER YOU NEED TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AND GET RID OF IT. IT IS VERY TRANSPARENT THAT THIS PERSON THAT CALLS HERSELF NICOLE IS NOT BEING PROFESSIONAL in any form for this job. If she's rude and hateful toward the pets parents what is she doing to our pet behind closed doors. It's very clear that this woman has some mental and anger issues and needs some serious therapy or medication to control it. Truthfully she does not need to work with the public nor with animals. Dr. Ann Cavender I pray that you read this review. Are you so shallow that you're allowing this sort of behavior in your place of business????? Are you weeding out all of Dr Yates patients that still come there ????? I noticed of rudeness in the past. But i ignored it and continued to stay. The other help has gone NOW YOU GOT A RUDE KAREN working there? Is GOOD HELP THAT ISN'T RUDE HARD TO FIND????? If this Nicole person is having a bad day she doesn't have to take it out on people that bring their pets there for any type of treatment. So far from what I can see Nicole who is a white female standing about 5'11" about 200 lbs maybe a tad more. I wish I had taken her picture I'd post her all over social media. However everyone that reads this clearly knows who she is. we may be the little people but we bring in money to your pockets. Or is Salem Vet Services discriminating or being racist ?????? Maybe the news media needs to be notified to shine a little light on this issue so it can be delt with . Dr. Yates is really missed We loved her and was kind, Loving /caring and compassionate. I hope everyone that reads my post files a complaint as well. I'm seeking to also file one against all that work there . there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed ASAP!!!!!! Maybe Salem Vet Services needs to be boycotted because of Nicole !!

Dr. Cavender is a great Vet. she is no nonsense vet and only wants to help your animals live their best life. she is very knowledgeable and i trust her care decisions for all my animals.

5+ stars for Dr. Cavender. 0- for the staff.
Dr. Cavender is definitely a lover of animals and an advocate for them. As far as humans, she pulls no punches. She is straightforward and honest. Her concern is for your pet and their well-being. Don't get your feelings hurt when she scolds you! She is a wealth of information and knows what is best for your pet. Her staff on the other hand is another story. Don't judge her by her staff. I don't understand why you would want to continue to work somewhere where you are obviously unhappy. I'm sure dealing with pet parents isn't always easy, but it is not an excuse to treat people poorly. Rudeness and nasty remarks don't get you anywhere in life but miserable. Everything from asking questions to making appointments seems to be an issue for the staff. If Dr.Cavender spends too much time with you, the attitude of the staff intensifies. And don't even try to engage in a conversation to be pleasant. You just receive a nasty look, are ignored or just receive a grunt or a roll of the eyes as a response. I understand being understaffed, but how can you recruit new employees when they would find working with the current staff unbearable? I would think after seeing the reviews that some changes need to be made. I know I would not like reading what people may say about me and it would certainly make me reevaluate myself and my position. I wish I could post about one positive experience with the staff because Dr. Cavender is wonderful.

Ann is highly competent, caring and compassionate. She is very knowledgeable about all kinds of animals and exotic animals.i have taken my rabbits to her for over 30 years and highly recommend her work.
