We had a terrible experience with Paris Veterinary Clinic. All three of our dogs have been vetted at this clinic for the past 2 ½ years. They also get groomed at this clinic as well. We called a week ago to get one of her medications filled for Marley. Marley has liver damage and is on three medications and she eats a prescription food. The medication that we needed refilled was Marley’s antibiotic. The vet stated they would call when the medicine came in. We had not received a call. Jeff called this morning and the lady that answered the phone said they did not have the medicine and she would check and call us back. We received a call at 5 PM today stating that she made a mistake. The office does have the medicine and we can pick it up on Thursday. Marley has been out of the antibiotic for a couple of days. We knew that her little body would not do well without the medicine for the next few days. We immediately called back and the call went to voicemail. We quickly dialed the emergency number. The Vet, Mike Neal, answered the phone and stated that he understood the situation and would wait at the office until we arrived. We jumped in the truck and headed to the clinic. Within 5 minutes, Mr. Neal called back and stated that he would not let us have the medicine because Jeff was rude when he talked to the office girl when she called at 5 PM. I heard the conversation. Jeff was not rude. He was definitely upset that she had made an error and was not willing to let us get the medicine today. I immediately took the phone and tried to explain the situation. I asked the guy to understand that the dog needs the medicine, or she will pee blood. He laughed! I cannot believe a Veterinarian would laugh about a dog that is 12 and will pee blood without getting her meds. I asked if he read the dog’s chart. He said yes and noted that not having the medicine would not cause the dog to pee blood. Guess what? She pees blood when she doesn’t have the meds. I was furious. He said he would not help us in this situation because we were rude. No comment or mention of the incompetence of the office for not calling when the meds were received or that they told us the meds were not at the office today! We all make mistakes. This Vet is allowing a sick dog to be punished over how he feels about the situation. I am definitely OK with finding another Veterinarian in the Paris area. Any recommendations?
