Tom genuinely cares about the success of his patients. No other therapist has ever helped me to see myself and my life with such clarity. He is able to show empathy but also communicate what changes I need to make. He truly found the right calling in life.

I cannot overstate how strongly I discourage anyone from seeing Mr. Hathaway for couples' counseling. He made things far worse than better and did so unapologetically. When I was having a hard time with my marital separation, he ridiculed me and when I texted him asking for understanding, he even sent me an abusive text stating verbatim: "YOU work with ME!"

When I told him how my wife had punched me in the face and thrown items in in the home, and I requested that he help her with her anxiety and other mental health issues, he disregarded my request and told me that, "She is a beautiful woman, inside and out," without offering any help. When I begged him to help me resolve the issue, he essentially told me it was my fault that she was stressed with life circumstances and offered no way to mitigate the issue.

I went to him for help and guidance with a difficult situation and he literally pushed to destroy my marriage and pushed me to an emotional breaking point. I went to another therapist to cope with the divorce he guided me into--one that was very familiar with our situation as she had counseled us jointly previously but my wife didn't like her advice--and she was appalled.

My wife and I have been going to Tom for about 6 months. Although he does identify certain issues in our marriage he does not offer much in the way of fixing them. he will identify issues that may stem from childhood but not meet with you individually to address those. How can 2 people improve a marriage if there are underlying issues that need addressed first. Also his methods are a little out of date. He will suggest or not suggest we do certain things and later I find out that his methods have since been proven not to be as effective as newer research and methods. Most of the improvement my wife and I have seen has been us talking on our own. He doesn't even take notes so he often doesn't remember what we talked about in prior sessions and we may not have finished yet he goes on to something else. He is a very nice guy and its not that he cant help its that based on other experts with more credentials there are better faster ways to regain trust after infidelity and I think he is stuck in the 70-80s and the research has passed him by and his methods are antiquated and may take longer. Also his office feels like its from the 70s.

Thomas Hathaway is a caring, intelligent, professional man who listens well, and profiles the situation accurately. He gives solid advice. He is caring, straight-forward and often funny. He tells it like it is and challenges you to see the reality of the situation, giving you advice on how to make changes and cope with situations and consequences of your own or another's actions. Mr. Hathaway has found his calling in life. He is excellent at what he does. He has truly helped me make the positive changes in my life that were needed. He showed me respect and showed me my self worth. I am forever grateful to this man for his wisdom and honesty.
