She wanted me to do volunteer work for a nonprofit that I was not interested working with. She had a personal vested interest in the nonprofit. I did not want to do data entry for free. If I am going to do mind-numbing work, I think I should get paid.
Visited for depression. 1st visit. She asked if I had any difficulty "staying on task" (a hallmark sign of depression, right?). I answered honestly, "Yes". She raised her eyebrows and bugged out her eyes (body language for shock and dismay) and said, "You work on ENGINES for a living and you're having trouble staying on task?". I'm no mental health professional but this seems to me a very judgmental statement, no? I felt scolded for admitting to having a classic symptom of the very illness I am asking her to help me through! Told her I didn't like the way she was talking to me. Offered to pay whatever I owed her and left.
Writing this to help others make a decision on which therapist to see. More people need to write reviews so its not such a "needle in a haystack" process to find a counselor who you like.
