I have been taking my dog to Dr. Brewer for the past year. Clara was in excruciating neck pain due to a disc problem. She was a rescue from a local animal shelter and in poor shape. She had been injured previously and her leg was broken and healed on its own incorrectly. It was suggested that I get her leg cut off, which I refused. Due to her neck and leg injuries, she was given high doses of meds from the vet. It was suggested she see a doggie chiropractor as an alternative to surgeries. I had never heard of such a thing before! Dr. Brewer is very direct and to the point. She can be intimidating. However, her main concern is your dog's health! There is no doubt about that. Clara is much better, thanks to Dr. Brewer! I am very thankful to Dr. Brewer for all she's done for my dog. She may be abrupt and a little rough around the edges, but she is truly the best person to take your pet to.

If your dog or cat has a problem, you definitely want this lady on your side. She is a no nonsense practitioner who really knows her field. I can't say enough about how much she helped my dog when no one else knew what to do.

I'm giving Dr. Brewer one star mostly because she knows her anatomy and her assistant was very considerate.

We took our dog to Dr. Brewer for chiropractic care because she works out of our veterinarians office on weekends. There was a lengthy questionnaire, which we filled out ahead of time. We also brought a copy of our dog's custom diet, done by a nutritionist. From the outset Dr. Brewer minced no words about how she didn't like our dog's diet even though it had vet approval and pushed us toward supplements she felt would correct the "problems" with his diet. We brought treats to the first session and were told not to use them, she didn't like our choice of treats (peanuts and dried cranberries) and told us not to praise him for withstanding an uncomfortable adjustment point. She also told us that he was "dominant". All of these things I thought I could mentally wad up and toss out of my brain as I walked out the door. I should have known better.

We took our dog to an adjustment last weekend where he yelped in pain and whipped his head around and was muzzled. The response was "attitude" and we were told to not talk to him or console him. I don't object to a muzzle on principal, no one needs to get hurt. Instead of backing off the sore points, she hit another one and he panicked, thrashing to get away. At that point he was tackled and put over a large block to keep his feet from touching the floor. I should have stopped the adjustment there. I left the room. My partner told me my dog whipped his head around again, clearly not happy with pain levels. She did not back off. It turned into a spitting contest between an adult woman and a 27 lb. dog. We will not be going back.

If you don't believe your dog is trying to "dominate" you, don't subscribe to her "recommendations" or have a dog with sensitivities, don't bother. She will not only ignore your dogs individual needs but berate you in the process. There are other animal chiropractors in Kansas City who don't believe chiropractic care is a contest to be won between your dog and the doc.

I just had a brief conversation on the phone with dr brewer and I felt she was very short and blunt with me I asked her prices and availability she asked if that was my criteria in finding a chiro for my dog and I said yes (my husband is in school and we have one income and are on a budget I didn't tell her that ) she pretty much said she would let me call around and take my dog elsewhere if that was my criteria cause she was the best and had a waiting list... I felt very judged and blown off and I felt like she disregarded me as a loving dog owner trying to fix my dogs hips issues I don't feel like that's how u try to build a clientele by telling your new clients in a round about way if money is an issue u don't love your dogs... I'm sure she is great at what she does in fact I had a referral from a friend and I live 2.2 miles away from her office I would much rather drive a million miles to have my dog adjusted then give someone my money who made me feel like I was a bad owner!!!
