Helen Shirazi is NOT good. Feels like she wasn't trained at all. Unfriendly too. Save your money.

WARNING: I met Dr. Helen Shirazi at a social event where she was apparently looking for clients. We small talked for a bit and when she asked me if I had back problems, I told her about my back. She suggested I’d come in for a session, but I was unsure. So, she offered me 1 free session and added that possibly I could refer clients to her if I felt she had helped me - I agreed. So, when Dr. Helen Shirazi asked me to come in, I obviously expected this deal to be honored. After the session, she asked me for a whopping full price. I was very surprised and I reminded her of her offer. She kept insisting I pay and the situation got more and more absurd. Dr. Helen Shirazi shrugged, as if to say “Well, you’re here, I treated you, you need to pay…” I told her that I felt duped into coming and that what she had done was unethical. It was tense and I left. A week later I receive a letter from a lawyer threatening to sue if I don’t pay up! I have never experienced anything like it…

I've been receiving treatments from Dr. Shirazi for the past year or so, and have referred at least two other professional acquaintances in Midtown who continue to get treatments from her. She's courteous, knowledgeable, professional and very good at diagnosing and treating back and general health problems. She's also takes a holistic approach to healing, routing out not only the physical problems affecting the immediate situation, but also lifestyle issues which may be affecting the bigger picture, along with recommendations for daily habits (from exercises to diet and ergonomic concerns) to get to the root of the problem.

I will admit I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to many wellness techniques, so for me to put my trust and my spine in her hands is a big deal, and I've been completely pleased and convinced. I will continue to visit Dr. Shirazi for treatments, and refer friends and coworkers to her.

The previous poster who gave Dr. Shirazi such a poor review has gotten the situation completely wrong. This is one of the difficulties with such reviews. I know for a fact Dr. Shirazi would not manipulate the goal of a session, that she wouldn't indicate a session to be free when it isn't. It's clear he's a disgruntled goldbricker who was disappointed he couldn't take advantage of a working professional.

I haven't met him, but it's a small world, and I have spoken to people within the same circle this drama major (no, really, he's a drama student) buzzes around, and he has apparently a history of firing off overly critical and inaccurate reviews whenever he's feeling affronted. Dr. Shirazi is not the only victim of his ill-placed scorn. Such reviews do no one any good, and should be wholly ignored, whether they come from a Newark couple dining for the first time at a nice restaurant and upset that the food costs so much and "tastes funny" or an immature drama student who can find no better avenue to vent his insecurities.
