Had a dermatology recommendation from February scheduled for late June. This morning (the day of) I was informed the scheduled dermatologist would not be available and I would need to reschedule. While I understand emergencies, I was told I could not get back into the office until September. No effort was made to try and fit me in later in the week, much less the month, and not even at the same office. As a teacher, summer is the only time of year I can book such appointments, and it’s incredibly frustrating to schedule a needed medical evaluation months in advance only to be told there is not a single spot for before the school year starts again. If I could evaluate my skin and seek the appropriate treatment I would, but when things like melanoma and odd spots are worrisome, it is frustrating that months of planning ahead for an evaluation are still not sufficient for timely care.
