When you face trouble on all fronts

Have you ever been in a position in which you are backed to a corner by powerful forces that are out of your control? You tried to do everything right. You work hard at putting the parts together. But somehow at the end, you are stuck.

You live the life that you don't want to live, but you can not get out of it. Your choices from the past have caused you to own the reality of the current situation and you can do nothing more to improve it. And the reality is that it's quite dismal.

What do successful people do when they are faced with such a fate? Using drugs and/or alcohol to numb one's feeling and thinking will not be an option. Feeling sorry for oneself will not bring forth any resolution either. Doing something spiteful or vengeful to others will cause the situation to get worse. All that can be done has been done.

The only thing that one can do is to simply wait. When you know that you have done everything possible to try to change the situation but it's still not changing, be at peace with yourself. Allow the sequence of events to take its place. Live your life as if this dark cloud is not affecting you. Know in your heart that you have done all you can and now is the time to simply let go of your worries.

It can be hard to let go of the stress that you carry on your shoulders and in your head. However, this is a learning opportunity. It allows you to exercise what you have learned about letting go and giving it up to the Higher Power. If you don't believe in the Higher Power, then give it up to some entity outside of yourself.

You don't need to own the burden. You can choose to enjoy your life in spite of the weight. It's there, but you don't need to carry it. Face your day with brightness and optimism.

Between being optimistic versus being pessimistic, you have a choice. Choosing one attitude versus the other attitude will not affect your external circumstances. However, internally, it will feel like the difference between night and day. Be good to yourself and BE optimistic. Before you know it, you will have grown so much that the burden is no longer a threat to your livelihood. You will be able to enjoy life even in the midst of the great trials.
