Carolina Healthcare products quoted me a specific "if insurance doesn't cover these (items) at all" price over the phone for the products I purchased and paid that amount immediately. I then received a phone call confirming that insurance had agreed to cover the cost and that I would owe nothing more. 6 months later I receive a bill for more than 3x the amount quoted over the phone initially (that I had already paid at the time). I made 2 attempts to call and clarify this discrepancy and my phone calls were not returned. I then received a phone call from a bill collector stating I was being charged 5x the amount originally quoted and that my account had been turned over to collections. It took me months to resolve the claim (and get them to credit the initial payment) and I still ended up paying 3x what I was originally quoted. This company was present at a national conference for persons like myself with a genetic disabling disease. I'm very concerned that they will take advantage of other consumers in this vulnerable population and wanted to put the data out there about my experience to prevent this from happening to others.
