I went to Dr. Cohen with terrible bunion and hammer toe which made walking very painful. Within a week he did surgery on my foot, cut off the bunion and reset my hammer toes. He did the surgery after normal office with no one nterruptions. Very fast and confident, Dr. Cohen has apparently performed this surgery many, many times so his plan was made well in advance and he demonstrated extreme skill at performing same.
Although his facility is not 5th Ave., NYstyle , it was clean, sterile and adequate. This in itself impressed me as patients are actually paying for posh facilities and furnishings. Also having this surgery in his office saved me and insurance a lot money and time. I walked out of Dr. cones after about two hours with my foot bandaged and in a walking boot. It has bee about 6 weeks now and everything has healed nicely and my foot is gorgeous. Dr. Cohen is a down earth nice guy and an excellent surgeon.

His staff is very knowledgeable as well and always helpful, courteous.

I went to see Dr. Cohen because he is only one close to where I live. Overbooked was an understatement, disorganized, the office was dirty, the staff looked like they picked their clothes up out of the floor and put them on, HE looked unkept. The only person who looked professional was the black tech. He was professional, friendly and spoke. The receptionist was late, I was a new patient and had to ask for my own new patient paper work.

Dr. Cohen did not wash his hands between rooms, I watched as he rushed between them. If my toe was not injured as bad as it was, I would have ran... When I finally was seen, I asked my husband to make sure he put gloves on. HE did not listen to me, he treated me for an ingrown nail not an injury, the tech had to go back and get him and I had to get stern with him about what I wanted done.

I did not go back for follow-up. I work for physicians, had my own NP look at it.

My main reason for writing this review is that I was completely confused when I left Dr. Cohen's office. I just felt uneasy so I decided to spend some time, after the appointment, doing the research I should have done before I went to see him. Even then, I would have been confused as there are great comments and really bad ones. HMMM ??

Here is my experience; The place was too really over booked. I sat there wondering how one Doctor could see all of these people since my scheduled time was at 4:00. When I left at 5:45 there was still a crowded waiting room. The staff is not properly trained. I think most of them are family. One member in particular was a young kid around 20 years old who was supposed to do a Ultra Sound. He set up a portable unit that the Dr. carries from office to office and then told me he wasn't really sure how to do it. I asked how long he had been working there and he said about six months. He was around 19 years old with NO training. He did tell me that the ultra sound would tell the Doctor where to inject medicine and how much. Really? And you are leaving this to an untrained 19 year old who doesn't like his job?

Dr. came in and with no explanation as to what the problem is, the method for correction or what would be injected and gave me several shots. Now I'm the idiot who did not ask more questions. So bad on me. Now I realize how stupid I was. No gloves. No hand washing. No explanation. The crazy thing is I woke up today feeling better but I just can't shake the uneasy feeling and will have to look for another Dr.

My best guess is that they see tons of patients and bill lots to the insurance companies. The office is packed, very dated and not clean. The staff all seemed new or newer. He may be the best Dr. ever but I can't ignore the warning signs so I wont be going back.

OMG! Never again. I really DONOT understand how this person can get any good reviews from any patient. I feel he has his family or same staff give him a good review. I needed bunion /hammertoe surgery. They did not explain that he only uses topical anesthesia not general for something as a bunion removal or hammertoe where. He has to break toes or insert wires . Well he injected my foot fifteen times trying to get it numb. Fifteen times...I finally asked him to stop. He wanted to continue asking me if he can at least do the hammertoe. My foot was bleeding from all the injections. No one explained the procedure to me and when I tried getting a staff to explain he interrupted he and injected me with lidocaine. I have problems with a anesthetics which I tried to explain that they DONOT work as well as with other patients and he just kept injecting until I stopped him. There was no running water in his office , I did not realize this until his wife walked into where my procedure was to take place and started talking about the problem with some staff. They had not paid bill and water was turned off. That's when I realized that Dr. Had given me antibiotics which he handed to me not in a cup but holding them in hands without washing his hands. Lord have mercy on those patients that schedule visits. They have no regards for HiPPA privacy laws. Patients diagnosis are discussed in front of other patients. Sutures are removed with patients sitting next to each other. He does not look at you directly to discuss anything regarding treatment. He swabs area of foot with one swab of cotton with alcohol , instead of cleaning whole foot with betadine solution for an open surgery procedure. His office has no computer, everything is outdated. He tells you how much you have to pay him before surgery is performed in front office waiting area. Complete disregard for patients security and surgical procedure. I DONOT understand why his office hasn't been closed for malpractice.

My appointment with Dr. Cohen was scheduled for 4 o'clock. When I checked in there were no less than 20 people in the waiting room. Keep in mind, also, that there is only one doctor in the facility. Firstly, I was frustrated because they were unable to find my referral. I had it faxed to their office 2 weeks prior, and confirmed that it was there. The receptionist made a phone call to the back area where insurance is processed. The office said that they didn't have it. They sent a tech back to check again. When he returned he told me that it was not there. One final tech went back and returned with the referral...20 minutes later. Throughout this time, all of the techs were yelling to eachother across the lobby about the condition of each of the patients that were currently being taken care of. As a hospital employee myself, I knew that this was absolutely a HIPAA violation. When I was finally called back (one and a half hours later) I was taken into a room with another patient. Our exam chairs were facing each other, and there was no partition in between. She and I both had our symptoms, diagnosis and treatment discussed in front of each other, again, with no regard to HIPAA regulations. I received x-rays from a tech who was CLEARLY not qualified for the job. I am an x-ray tech, myself, and I know that the images he took were not standard x-ray images. He also practiced improper technique when making his exposures. I was given steroid injections, even though I refused them. I first asked if the injection was going to be safe as I am still breastfeeding. He was unsure, so he looked it up on his phone. When he was unable to find a satisfactory answer, he continued to draw up the steroid anyway. The tech in the room at the moment and I both said that it probably wasn't necessary, and that I would try the orthotics and sleeping boots they had given me and that we could re-assess at the next appointment. He proceeded to inject me anyway. As he was preparing for the other foot, I told him that I did not want the injection, and he obliged temporarily, but ultimately injected me anyway. I was also later informed that the wait had been so long because, in an attempt to make up fir the holidays that week, Dr. Cohen scheduled 40 patients betweek 2:30 and 6:00 that evening. This clinic is absolutely unprofessional and I would NOT recommend it.

Like others, I experienced an hour and a half wait in an over-run office, refused to be treated in the bigger room with other people, was given x-rays, shots, and foot pads. I had no explaination as to what I was given and why. However, when I left, I felt no pain. Still feeling uneasy, I returned in two weeks when the pain returned thinking that a second chance was a good idea. Same as before, but even less communication. Same long wait, doc came in gave shots asking ME about where to put them, but this time I am still in pain. Also, I just wrote down what the doc gave me so I could research it when I came home! I am looking for someone else. He may be a great doc but I just can't handle the office experience and he is strange and creepy!
