The staff with the exception of the new X-ray girl were typical big island small town self important uneducated untraveled rude (PS you are Asian not Hawaiian so get the whole I'm "local" chip off your shoulders, Hawaii has only been the property of Hawaiians by blood and the USA never an Asian country?) I had been to Hilo medical center for a break in my arm outer bone just above the wrist, my wrist was messed up and the bones in my had were also jammed up do to a fall. The Doc at Hilo medical center (one I had been forced to see once before with my hand messed up when my dog was attacked by a pit bull owned by a homeless guy) splinted it and says you should have it set within a few days. I was not impressed with him prior. I went in to see Raymond J Imatani whom I knew to be an excellent Orthopaedic Surgeon from a repair to my leg, however he had just arrived in Hilo a few days prior and his system was not set up to take my insurance yet. Doc Imatani looked at it said yes it is messed up I'll set it in plaster to stabilize it for you, and although it will heal fine like this, you should really have it reset properly and your hand realigned asap. So I against better judgement go to Peter Matsuura, he was running two and a half hours late, and there were four (4) of us who had been waiting that long to see him. When he finely got to me, I got a disingenuous Hi how are you today, sorry I'm running late… lets see what's going on with your wrist… I try to explain but he is much to busy and important to really care to listen, as he tries to get the disc of X-Rays into the computer so he can have a look at my bones, but he can't get it to work so the photos come up on the screen? He turns looks at me pats my leg and says I'm sure it will heal just fine, come back in six(6) weeks ! SERIOUSLY !!!!! Now the very best part of all, the frosting on the cake he gets up and as he leaves the room he yells to the girl and I quote" Hey can you unstuck the computer" and make Mr M an appointment to come back in six weeks? NO SHITE I reached over ejected the disc of my X-Rays and walked out, I went and say Doc Lee & he sent me to see Doc Singer in Honolulu both said my wrist and hand were seriously messed up and it would now take re breaking and cadaver bone implant at risk or rejection to repair/straighten my wrist arm and much more to realign my hand.
I've lost much of the use on my left hand.

By far the best Orthopedic doctor on the Big Island. Do not waste your time, money or health with any other physician. Demand to be seen Dr. Matsurra!

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all.
