I love that I can count on them to work with me until they find a solution for my situation. Other places I've visited, seem to give up after they don't have an answer for me the first time, but not here. It was nice to see them treat their staff with so much respect. It was obvious that they had a good relationship with all of their staff members. They have really great customer service here. They always put their customers first, regardless of the situation. They make sure to treat all their clients equally and without favoritism. I've always hated it when I've seen favoritism going on at other places I've visited. It's nice that it doesn't happen here.

It was easy to get the appointment time that worked for my schedule. I was pleased to see that their equipment looked new and well taken care of. It really put me at ease to see that nothing was old or falling apart. They always return my phone calls quickly. I always know that I'll get a prompt answer to my question.

If you want the facts about Dr. David O'Donnel's office and what happened to me, take 5 minutes to read this and save yourself hours of trouble and 1000s of dollars.

I would not recommend Dr. O'Donnel to anyone. I went in to have 4 moles and one dermatofibroma (DF) removed at a cost of $730. I got another bill for 4 surgical pathology exams by "O'donnell for $340. Then, I got another bill for $400 for 5 more "surgical pathologies" (medical code 88305, times 9 for 5 lesions, mind you) because O'Donnell's office had to "legally" (their words not mine) send the samples off for examination at come medical center I've never hear of (although I was paying O'Donnell for the same exact "exams.") Next, I get another bill for $225 for a "microslide consultation (88321) from a guy whose name I can't pronounce on a University of Michigan letterhead. So, for this 30-40 minutes of the doctor's time and he and...whoever else doing exams on these moles (that I've had my entire life thus of course aren't cancerous) I had to pay out $1500! When I first called to make an appointment I let the staff know that if were going to cost anything like $7-800 I'd prefer to wait. They didn't think it would so I was expecting under $500.

And guess what? He COMPLETELY MISSED the DF! He must have gotten a small piece of it but It was definitely still there. So, I went back after making an appointment. When he walked in I was like, "You missed it. There is it, cut it out!" He looked at it, agreed, and scheduled me for another appointment. I was like, "I told your staff on the I needed it out. I mean, you missed it. Cut it out today!" I guess they don't do surgury on that day or whatever so I was like, "I'm not going to have to pay for today's visit, am I? O'Donnel told me I wouldn't. Then, I get the $80 bill for the visit! I looked through the medical codes and they say that you may not charge a patient for an office visit unless if 2 of the 3 following occur: medical history discussed, examination performed, medical advice given. O'Donnell was 0/3, yet they charged me. When I called to complain the staff (who are very unorganized, not knowledgeable, unwilling to discuss virtually anything, and not too friendly, BTW) told me, "No. I know my doctor. He'd never say that." So now I'm am liar.

I went back to finally get the DF removed. $820 he charged EVEN THOUGH he charged me for it the first time! And the thing was the size of a pea but the charge was for an OVER 2.6 cm repair. Hmm. Then he sent it to the same place for a $150 pathology exam (88305, my tenth time paying this fee, and second time on the same exact DF, BTW). However, he didn't sent it to the third place this time. Why not? I don't know. Nor did he examine it himself this time. Good for me but inconsistent and sketchy.

Since he had no base to charge me for the office visit I demanded the $80 to be removed from my balance and half of the total $1115 pathology examinations removed because only half of them were necessary. I don't care who did the exams, O'Donnell is the one who underhanded me. Since I had already paid some but had a balance still (there were in total about 12 bills from three differnet sources).

Since "Doctor doesn't take phone calls" (staff's wording...figures he doesn't take phone calls, right?) I was forced to write a letter. I said that if they credit me $400 that will be the end of it and I won't write any online reviews. I also asked them to reply by letter and to promise that I would not be getting another hidden charges (exams were done in THREE places, all of which I paid for, ALL of which they hid from me until I got the bill). They sent no letter but I got a phone call and a measly $80 credit. I SHOULD be getting about a $1500 credit because I paid a total of $2745, but I only asked for $400, and they gave me $80.

In my letter I threatened to write a factual review online unless if they credited me the measly $400 but they didn't do it. Doesn't make business sense to me. I mean, $400 to have me not write this review is a pretty good deal for them. They can screw over everyone and since insurance pays most of it most people probably don't even notice they're being overcharged. They choice to not do the right thing; and I'm letting the world know about it.

Actually, I did not want to spend the time writing this because it's a bad memory for me (happened this summer). There's one thing I forgot to mention: there's still a HUGE, RED scar on my leg where the DF was. It's over an inch long, red, and bulging. Whenever I take a shower and see this scar I'm reminded of how I was mistreated and overcharged. Don't make the same mistake as I did.
