The facility is attractive and the staff is pleasant. But I've had needless difficulty reaching my sister staying there. (After my sister had been moved to a new room, she was not told her new telephone number. I called her old number and was given a new number that turned out to be a number at the Oregon Department of Revenue. I called again and the person who answered said she didn't have the correct number or know where to get it. After I called the main number of Friendship House several times and was finally lucky enough to reach someone, I took the initiative to specifically ask to be connected to the room. Finally, I reached my sister but staff repeated that they had no way to find out the correct number to enable me to call her directly.)
More generally, it isn't possible to reach someone in charge at Friendship House who can help solve problems. There is no working website, let alone one with names and contact information to allow communication with key staff. It seems this facility has been organized to filter out expressions of concern or suggestions by relatives or friends of persons living there. This may make life easier for staff, but it doesn't help staff improve their quality of service.

They would never do that! Their full attention is always on me.

I was there for over 4 weeks and I have had many issues with staff, (certain nurses) to get my pain meds, I ask for them at say 10AM and 30 minutes later I get them and this is in the middle of the night when they are not busy. The night nurse Kevin, is terrible. He is slow to respond when I buzz for pain meds and the cna Mo is shy when asked to help me to the bedside commode, he gets me there and before I sit down he dashes out the door. My pcp has said to me "the nurses need to go back to nursing school to learn more and learn compassion and the cna's as well need more training."I was here with a broken femur/hip and they started telling me it looked like I was near ready to go home before I can even start weight bearing. The night nurse STEVEN is awsome, never missed a pain med scheduled time...ever. He's compassionate and caring. Kevin could take a few lessons from Steven as to compassion and being on time...I would say for a short term, fine, it is a clean facility, but 90% of the staff is rude, crude and very slow and the food is God-Aweful
