They were very professional and provided excellent care for my brother who was dying. It is not all new and shiny like some newer facilities but the care they gave my brother was excellent. Special thanks to Trina, who is such a caring person, Latonya, who is so professional, Sherry and Rene, who walked us through all the paperwork, Lisa, who helped get Hospice involved, Nkay, hard to understand but sweet, and Dr. Subbiah, who was the only doctor who bothered to talk honestly with us throughout the entire time. The facility was kept clean and someone could be reached at all times since we lived 100 miles away in the mountains of NC. They kept us updated every day when we had to return home for work. We highly recommend Westwood if you are looking for a caring, professional staff.

It is a difficult reality to face when your parent requires 24-hour care, and your options are minimized to placing him/her in a nursing facility. But my mother was a patient at Westwood in 2009 when she broke her hip. The six weeks of care she received was very good, and the therapy she received there and afterwards at home made it possible for her to live at home alone for another 1.5 years. Now as her age has increased and her mobility and quality of life has decreased, 24-hour care is the only option. And after her being in three other facilities and observing their processes and procedures, we came back to Westwood. Transitioning is always an issue as family is relinquishing control and learning to TRUST the care providers. That is difficult in itself. But while there are bumps along the way, I haven't gotten the impression that the bumps are insurmountable and the staff isn't willing to go out of their way to remove those bumps and smooth the way. Like all nursing facilities, I personally believe these care-givers are overworked and probably underpaid. And I personally am not able to provide the type of care they give to my mother. So I'm thankful and blessed that there are people in this world who can clean feces, vomit, and dress pressure wounds. When bumps along the way are made known, I've found that the staff is OPEN to hearing them and dealing with them and eradicating the issues. That's all anyone can ask. I find the people have good hearts, are dedicated, and are caring. They just don't have enough minutes and hours to do all that is required. I don't think any of us feels that we are able to get done what needs to be done. So at this point, I see this facility and its staff as a blessing for my mother and family. And I pray for the staff each and every day.

They left me completely alone for a long time and I became very nervous. They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered. Everything they originally told me they would be able to do for me, they ended up not being able to do. I felt lied to. I had to wait a few weeks to get an appointment but I eventually got in. When comparing them to others in their field, I would say they are by far the worst I have ever seen. I will never return.
