They fixed my dog. They are just a great group of people. I felt like they genuinely wanted to help my dog and not just take my money. Middlehope..........not so much.

I brought my dog here a few years ago accompanied by my 8 year old daughter at the time. He had swallowed something and it wasnt passing. Surgery was discussed but it wasnt a guarantee that it would be a success. They were nice enough to itemize and print out the cost of everything that would need to be done. They gave me a few minutes to call my husband and discuss our options/ surgery or euthanize him. I did not appreciate the lack of compassion they had towards me and my daughter during the time. They kept coming out to the waiting room every 30 seconds while I was on he phone rushing me on the phone saying to me that I 'needed to hurry up and make my decision waiting isnt going to change the outcome". Not once caring that my poor daughter was sitting right next to me crying her eyes out. Had I known that the visit was gonna go the way it did I wouldve never brought my daughter along or even brought our dog there. Bottom line: they were cold and heartless. Sadly we had to euthanize our buddy and we asked to have his remains cremated. When we were called and told his ashes were ready we went straight there to get them. When we got home we took his paper work out of the box and everything was wrong. They listed our dogs name as mine (my first name) and for the last name had our street name. All I can do is hope that we were given back our dogs remains and not someone elses. That was the last time I used Gardiner animal hospital and thats how it will stay. I still cry when I think back to how nasty they were during that difficult time. I give them one star because they do have a payment plan

I have heard nothing but good things about Gardiner Animal Hospital since moving up to Pine Bush a year ago so, when my dog got hit by a car, I immediately raced there. I am a licensed vet tech so I had been checking my dogs vitals since the moment she got hit and knew something was severely wrong. Upon getting to Gardiner, I had about a 10 minute wait. They took my dog to the back and told me they would monitor her and call me. As I said, I was going off of blind faith and the word of some reputable dog persons up in Ulster/Orange County. I was called back a while later and told that my dog was in reparatory distress (which, she had been the ENTIRE time, it was not something that onset while she was in their care) and that they were going to do a chest X-ray. They did the X-ray and called back and told me that she had a diaphragmatic hernia and that I should take her to a hospital staffed to do surgery on a saturday night. I raced back to the hospital and asked where I should take her. They didn't have any solid confidence on where I should take my dog and scrambled around telling me that they close in 5 minutes. I was horrified. When I asked about how my dog was laying (she was on her side which is not ideal for a dog with that type of hernia, the vet responded "oh yeah, she should not be laying like that" EXCUSE ME?! YOU HAD YOUR TECHS WATCHING MY DOG LAY IN A POSITION THAT WAS ADDING TO THE PRESSURE ON HER RESPIRATORY SYSTEM?!) My dog had internal trauma and they didn't know where to send me and were RUSHING me out the door (meanwhile, I was waiting for someone to make me a copy of my dogs X-rays). Realizing that I was VERY uncomfortable with the way my dog was breathing I rushed down to Animal Health Center in Briarcliff where I know a phenomenal surgeon. I got there and was horrified when he pulled up my dogs xrays- a.) it was not a diaphragmatic hernia, my dog had completely ruptured her diaphragm (not to mention she ruptured her kidney, liver, and lung and had profuse internal bleeding) b.) they only took one view and it was barely readable. I can't believe I paid for any services there. I will never return. Luckily enough, my dog survived after emergency surgery and a blood transfusion. I'm almost grateful they rushed me out the door, or else my dog would have, without a doubt died of internal bleeding.

Not at all, their office smelled fantastic!

No, there was no annoying music
Was this veterinarian friendly to your pet?
Extremely friendly, I could really tell his/her love for animals.
Did this provider seem well-trained and experienced?
Absolutely, they were an expert!
Did a staff member acknowledge or greet you when you entered?
Immediately! They gave me a friendly greeting as soon as I walked in

No, They definitely believe in quality over quantity and allow more than enough time in between appointments

Were the kennels and holding areas clean?
Absolutely, the kennels and holding areas were some of the cleanest I have ever seen
