With a Dr.'s prescription, we were led to Gould's in Bardstown, KY to rent a leg-support scooter -- my wife had a broken ankle. We were charged $75 for a device for 30 days and told that the medical claim would be "submitted". We incorrectly assumed that the "submission" of the claim would be to the medical insurance company (TriCare) because it was prescribed by a doctor (MD).

It turned out that the company's definition of the word "submission" was submission to an internal office at Gould's -- not the insurance provider. The reason? - it was a "rental" and not an outright purchase. Further investigation revealed that had the company "submitted" the claim to TriCare, it would have been honored. We were lied to about this and the local operators had no idea of the procedures as we found out when we called the main office. It should be noted that a plastic "cast" for the ankle was prescribed at the hospital and purchased through Gould's as well. When the EOB came back, WE owed $41.00 and TriCare paid the remaining $160.00. This is notable because the code used said "Purchase/Rental" on the EOB. We were told by Gould's that only "purchases" were covered -- we were lied to at the convenience of the superintendent of the claims department according to the information that we received from the store in Bardstown.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. There is another store in the town that will service your needs honestly and not push these through at the store's convenience.

I experienced their terrible service first hand. Three times is a charm, not going back. When you go to their store you are completely ignored. If you call for an appointment, you’re sent to voice mail and your call is not returned. Obviously the management is an epic fail. If I owned the St Matthews location I would fire the entire staff. All of the employees are untrained and unprofessional. The medical supplies business is an untapped market. An entrepreneur could open a store in Louisville and put this place right out of business.
