The folks at The Special Place were wonderful to me when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. They were so helpful in measuring me for a wig, ordering it, and showing me how to care for it.
Their line of clothing and prosthesis were also much appreciated. They made a difficult time much more manageable. I have highly recommended them to a number of people.

I always find the things I need for daily living. It is much more difficult to find such things as bathing suits and undies since my mastectomy. The staff is supportive and caring and help me find items that make me feel "normal". And, items can be bought there or ordered (and are received quickly). It is an amazing place.

Everyone was so very helpful, made me feel comfortable, and took away my fears about facing the new world that my surgery presented. They knew and understood me and my feelings, my insurance company rules and regulations, and what I would need for taking care of myself and feeling whole. After hearing horror stories about other places, I was relieved to have a caring and knowledgeable place to go.

Awesome visit. I feel so much better about my self-image. Everyone was so positive and helpful. I worked with Darlene, and she gave me so much information that I left feeling that I knew more about myself and my needs. My need right now is for an email address so I can send information for my lymphodema sleeve and glove. I found lots of information on-line, but not an email address.

A Special Place in Portland ME is well stocked and has a friendly, helpful staff. I felt at home as I ordered what was best for me. I will definitely return when I need more supplies. There is a sales rack with a nice selection of personal items and a large selection of wigs for ladies who have lost their hair during chemotherapy.
