Dr Walters is a very bright and experienced veterinarian, and we knew and used him for a decade, but we really should have done more reading on the Internet before choosing the treatment recommended, because it ended up killing our dog.
We went to him for a sedative for a log car ride (we were moving), and he wanted to do a battery of tests, and the heartworm test showed "positive."
Dr Walters mentioned a self administered alternative that was far cheaper than the $1600 one we elected for the heartworm our adopted dog had likely had for a few years (a previous test was negative as mentioned), but it took longer, so we thought the 2-shot one Dr Walter suggested should be safe for our dog, but it turned out anything but safe.
READ, READ, and ask lots of questions before just following what at the moment seems like a more expedient choice, even if your Vet guides you in that direction. Our Internet reading of the chemical used (too late) would have caused us to go the "alternative" route for sure.

We recently took our fur baby to Brookside Animal Hospital, and my husband and I were very impressed. My husband looked online for the vet with best reviews, and he clearly was the best. Upon our first visit, he explained who he was and what he stands for. He's practical and won't bleed your wallet. Our dog unfortunately didn't have a condition that was going to be able to be fixed. He could have gone the radical route... We were sad and scared, but he was very conservative and honest with us which we REALLY appreciated! Sadly, we had to make the decision to put her down. They were there for us and backed our decision. They were kind and empathetic. They even took back the meds my dog didn't use and refunded us. Who does that?! We really liked everyone there. Do I ever write reviews? No, but I espescially had to today after receiving a nice sympathy card from them. I will definitely refer any animal parent to these guys!

I have used many vets and this one is the best I've ever used!! Doc is awesome!! Always straight forward and honest with us regarding my dogs illness. Very easy to call and ask questions to. Even hole my dog was sick he would call us at one an check on her. Recently I had boarded my dog while we went on vacation. Doc came up and checked on her on the weekend and Jon who takes care of the boarded animals also is very attentive to the normals. Unfortunately my precious dog passed while being boarded but I was de o her illnesses. It was noticed fast and treated fast as well. Unfortunately sh did not survive. I received a phone call late Sunday night from Doc an informed us of the bad information. When we arrived to see our precious baby they all cried with and and hugged us!! This is te best vt and staff I have ver delt with!! Hank you so much Doc and all your staff!! I will for ever recommend him to anyone needing a older full vet!!
