I have been going here for nearly 8 years and I find Doris to be very friendly and very busy. I have been with Joyce for a long time and she has always been very helpful for me and has helped me through some difficult times.

This place is a medical mill..the receptionist is a miserable person and the director (Joyce) only cares about the $$$...they don't keep prompt appointments..if you care about yourself or a loved one then DON'T use this practice...stray dogs are treated better...there office is filthy, cluttered and has a gloomy atmosphere..again, VERY unprofessional

I have been to the center 5 times this year for my son to receive clearance letters to return to school (this is the only option for our school district, unless we wish to pay out of pocket).
At times the staff was curt towards me and my son. When they cleared my son to return to school under the provision that he attend therapy, we were matched with an nice young lady, but she was still a student at Seton Hall and therefore was not qualified! I don't feel that this is a professional, caring environment for young children

the staff are excellent , caring, helpful in time of need. I needed to be seen asap and was able to get in and be seen quickly. All were very caring and helpful. They saved me in time of real distress

The receptionist (Doris) is rude and need to learn how to talk to people. But the rest of the staff is excellent. Would give it 5 stars but Doris need more people skills.

Horrible, Horrible. Taking my son to this place was a big mistake. We met with several therapist and were shifted from one to another without being informed. We kept having to start over. I have been a healthcare professional for years and I never encountered anything like this. I have also realized that every so called therapist we met with, was not a therapist at all, but rather a student. Three therapist not one of them licensed and or experienced. They also were pushing medication on me/my son all by unlicensed students. WTF. This shouldn't be going on at all. The person identified as the director was just mean and nasty and appears to be in the wrong profession. Not compassionate at all. I will never return to this place again all nasty and rude, even the director?? The most concerning thing for me, as an M.D. myself, remains that not one of the therapist we saw was a really a therapist, just students. Pretty scary given that people are coming in for mental health stuff. I would not recommend the family center to anyone. Shady practices and nasty staff. NOT GOOD. Don't get involved in this disorganized, thoughtless outfit. This place is trouble, more like a clinic or mill, not a mental health facility. they could careless about you again pretty concerning given the nature of the clients needs. If you need a therapist this is not the place to go, as stated I did encounter one licensed professional there. STAY AWAY for your own well being and safety.

The receptionist (Doris) needs to be retrained. She threatened me by telling me that if I didn't schedule a follow-up appt with their therapist, they would report it to his school and he would not be able to attend school. Then she called me the following day and told me that I needed to schedule an appt with one of their psychiatrists for my son and that if I didn't, she would tell the school and he would not be able to attend until he saw their doctor. I spoke with their office manager who apologized for the miscommunication, but that wasn't enough for me to ever go back to this place. Go elsewhere because it seems that complaints about Doris have been around for years, but Family Center will not retrain her or replace her. You will be forced to deal with her because she is there every day. Better to go elsewhere.

The family center is a great place. I have been working with Andrew for several months, and in that time, I have accomplished more "for myself" then in all my previous years. Andrew has taken the time to explain everything I need to know about my treatment and has been guiding me through cognitive behavior counseling?, which all of my previous therapist made very confusing. I have learned to really examine my thinking with Andrew's help. It's like I have a new lease on life. There is something about Andrew, he takes seemingly complex dilemmas for me and strips them down, very naturally, to the point where my energy is renewed. I have a Master's degree in Philosophy and I have dedicated my life to academics and gaining knowledge and I have never met someone as intelligent and intriguing as Andrew. He's also grounded and humble despite his ability and never cause me to feel judged or as though I am sitting in a psych class, as many therapist do. ugh He's really helping me view my life in a new light and has helped me remember what's really important in addition to assisting me with my real time issues, I always leave my sessions with a renewed sense of clarity. - He also provides me with achievable solutions to life challenges which again, is something I have not experienced with any of my previous therapist, most of whom left me feeling judged, more confused and blown off beneath a wave of unrealistic theory's. . No nonsense, no therapist babble with Andrew, just relieve and results. If your looking for a therapist go see Andrew, incredible guy and tremendously talented therapist. Additionally, the staff at the family center have all been very helpful and kind. I would highly recommend the family center to anyone looking for a new therapist. Great people Great place.
