Dr. Fay systematically worked with my ex spouse to begin the process of parental alienation (ultimately it failed). She had conversations with an independent parental evaluation expert in which she presented "evidence" that was blatantly biased and detrimental to my child's well being. She worked in secret, blatantly lied, created false notes and false descriptions of her treatment with my child. She refused to provide treatment summaries to me as well as notes about my child's treatment despite being required to do so by law. After notification of my intent to file charges against her I did receive what were obviously falsified notes and treatment summaries.

This is a woman who makes her living off state funded DV referrals (even though accusations have been proven false) from the court. In my opinion she will do whatever is necessary to secure her financial well being even if it means lying, coercion of children, and alienating children from a loving parent. She literally tricked my child into creating lies that were used against me in custody, unsuccessfully. I am thankful that a true and unbiased professional was able to see all these tactics, refute and discredit Dr. Fay. I was eventually awarded fair and equitable custody despite Dr. Fays false treatment notes and allegations. I plan to bring these tactics to light by filling a formal complaint with the state and federal agencies against Dr. Fay.

You should never trust this person with your child or children. If you have been ordered to use Dr. Fay through a court process you should seek another independent therapist to combat these despicable tactics. She does not care about your child or you.

Terrible counselor and "psychologist." The positive reviews on this site appear to be written by Karen herself. Her manner is strange, mousey, and patronizing. At the very beginning I felt ill-at-ease leaving my children with her, and sure enough what a mistake. She ended up creating far more problems for my family than resolving, and her solution was to conduct more paid visits. When I asked for a 10-minute update on how my kids were doing over the phone, she insisted I come in, she then gave me a quick update, and then said I owed her for a full hour session because she had blocked out the time. This is just one example among many where this woman showed her intent to be keeping a stream of business going rather than helping my children. I regret having ever used her services.

Dr. Fay saw my children for over a year. Both children let me know that they did not trust her, as the things they told her in confidence were often communicated to my ex-wife, who punished them. The children are now with another psychologist and are relieved to be done working with her. As am I.

I am glad to see these reviews. My experience with Dr Karen Fay was along the lines of what Sonya and Phil observed below. I sought her services for my children when my wife and I were going through a divorce, and I had a terrible experience with her. I was looking for some short-term counseling for my children to help them and me with ideas through the transition period. It turned into an over two-year ordeal in which we had to finally use a mediator/decision-maker to bring and end to the counseling through the court system, as Karen held on to the situation, fomented a court dispute, and reaped large fees the entire way. I found her to be completely untrustworthy, not grounded in common sense, and was essentially harmful to all of us. She is a troubled person who needs to get her own mental house in order before she can begin to think of counseling others.

Dr. Fay is at best incompetent and at worst hurtful to kids. She mis-diagnosed our ADHD daughter as "psychotic" and referred her for meds she didn't need. Our children liked her at first, but soon came out of sessions saying "she doesn't listen to me" or "I don't want to see her any more". For myself I found her demeanor a little weird...she often talked to me as if I were a child, not a parent. And yes, her squeaky voice is irritating. She is young and, I think, lacks both experience and real world insight. Look elsewhere for if you want to help your kids

I am stunned by the reviews with 5 stars. To me, they appear fake. Dr. Fay failed utterly to create a bond with me, the father of two girls. Instead of being an unbiased, neutral third party and advocate for our children during our divorce, Dr Fay took sides in our divorce, fabricated stories, encouraged our girls to tell lies about their parents, and became involved in the parenting plan negotiations - despite the fact that she is forbidden from doing so by her licensing board. She 'resigned' from the care of our girls twice, then changed her mind and continues to treat them, against my wishes. She spends a great deal of time in court and seems to take pleasure in driving wedges between parents and their children. Do not take your children to see her - she may damage them as she has mine
